Yes, we figured it was likely a spring. We didn't tear it completely down that far, just far enough to see the little button underneath that is compressed by the spring. Thank you. Is it easy to tear down further and replace the spring? Can you still get that spring from a dealer?
So a while back I went to take out my Landcruiser and it wouldn't go into gear. After tearing it apart (with the help of a friend who knows more than I) we found that the button on the side that you push in to shift gears was no longer engaging. We've looked around quite a bit and haven't been...
Additionally, I want to add that I will still use this rig plenty in Seattle so they need to be somewhat well mannered in the city. I have read that these Geolanders fit the bill.
I have a '93 FZJ80 and I want to put more aggressive tires on it. I am going to be using it mainly when I go up to the mountains in Tonasket. Lots of snow, rocks, etc. I want to leave the suspension stock for now, and go as big as I can. I'm thinking Yokohama Geolander M/T's. Any input or...
I did a drain and fill with DEX VI instead of DEX III by accident. The existing fluid prior to me doing this was unknown, but seemed to be in good condition. I have 3 options: Do another drain and fill with DEX III and repeat a few times over the next year; remove as much as I can with a vacuum...
I found another thread here that suggested that a full transmission flush is sometimes not a good thing, and can cause problems. I sense that there are a lot of different opinions on the subject? The rig has 243k miles
Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it. FWIW, I wasn't trying to be argumentative so I apologize if I came across that way. I had just gotten the vacuum pump method figured out and whatnot so the other method threw me for a little bit of a loop.
If you had to guess, if I go the route...
The videos I watched showed guys removing the transmission fluid using a vacuum pump with a hose sucking it out of the filler/dipstick tube. Any reason why this won't work?
Just an update...I decided that I wanted to get all the fluid out and start over. I found this video and am going to build the setup. I found a similar vacuum pump on Ebay and am awaiting its arrival.
So Dex III and Dex/Merc are the same thing? I just want to make sure I get the right stuff. FWIW, this is the first automatic I have had in a long time. I have spent my entire adult life driving Toyota pickups with 5 speeds.
That makes sense Slider. I just drained and refilled. I am going to get Dex 3 and replace it.
I searched Amazon for Dex 3 and this is what it came up with...is this the same...
Thanks for all the replies guys. I am thinking maybe I should just drain the Dex 6 and replace it with the Dex 3 if that's what it calls for.
You'll have to forgive my ignorance, I don't know much about this rig, it is fairly new to me. How do I check the front drive flange and the kickdown...
I apologize for disappearing guys, my wife has been ill and I have my hands full all of a sudden. I didn't mean to be rude and abandon my own thread.
Here's a picture of the transmission fluid I used.
