Am I being unreasonable, fair, or overpaying????

This. You can find a '95-'97 in similar shape for similar money, or better, especially if you're willing to travel. Regardless, considering the weight of these trucks, I think the 1FZ-FE is the only way to go. The 2F in my 60 was fine, albeit weak. The 80 is heavier and the 3F-E is not much...

    Seat backrest rattle

Did you ever find a solution other than "a book or similar" to the rattle? I'm having this same issue that has gotten worse to the point that I now have to address it.

    Larger oil filter?

Ok then. Thanks guys! The larger filter that I've been using is only a little longer. The diameter is the same IIRC, so it's no harder to get in there than the stock filter. I don't need to run a bigger filter, I just like the extra bit of filtration since I'm running dino oil on ~5k mile...

    Larger oil filter?

Hey guys, I was using the 90915-20004 larger filter that I was getting from cdan. Now that he's not around anymore, I am looking for a source for a larger filter. What are you guys using for oil filters? When I enter the 20004 part # on toyotaonlineparts.com, it just comes back with the...

Can my '96 Cruiser drive 3 hours?

If your maintenance is up to date, you can drive it around the world.

Very hard starting after the truck sits for longer than 10 days...

The low fuel pressure from either a weakening pump or leaky injectors makes sense. Is there a way to test for a weak pump? If it's getting weak, IME that's a sign of a failure in the future...

Very hard starting after the truck sits for longer than 10 days...

Good points on the dropping cylinders thing. No CEL, and my reader is dead anyway. Next time I'm near a FLAPS I'll borrow theirs. It doesn't smell like raw gas until after it actually fires. It definitely smelled when it didn't start, but not of raw or burnt fuel. Timing is good. The...

Very hard starting after the truck sits for longer than 10 days...

Whenever my truck sits for anymore than about 10 or so days, the thing takes extra time to start, and when it finally does, it sputters to life slowly, like a 10 pack a day smoker first thing in the morning. This time, it got a lot worse. I couldn't get it going for about 20 tries. I had to...

Good lord this exhaust repair has turned out to be a nightmare(long, but with questions)...

Success!!! Thanks for all of the help guys! The tail pipe section acutally was a breeze. I did jack up the rear end as high as I could get it, but what made it easy was removing the heat shield that is above the section of pipe that goes over the frame crossmember. Until I removed that, it...

Good lord this exhaust repair has turned out to be a nightmare(long, but with questions)...

So I got the nuts off using one of these: 7-pc POWER-GRIP™ Set - Tools - IRWIN TOOLS. It worked well. Just tapped it on with a hammer and used a ratchet with a 1/4" socket. I like the copper nut idea. I got some of the Toyota nuts, but I think I'll try the copper nuts and see how they do...

Good lord this exhaust repair has turned out to be a nightmare(long, but with questions)...

First off, thanks to everyone who has done this in the past and posted up about it! I have some questions listed at the bottom. So if you don't want to read my little rant, feel free to scroll on down. ;) I went into this project well informed and was ready for anything to happen...

Any HID retrofits with stock housings?

The main issue with the HID in any housing is whether there is an upper cut off for the light. The stock housing in my car is a projector and has a cut off to keep the light from going too high into oncoming drivers. That being said, I've had good luck with the VVME HID kits on ebay. I got...

Low beam slee harness not working - solved

So my low beams still were out this morning. I went through the system with a voltmeter and everything pointed to the relay being bad but when I replaced with a spare, they still didn't work. They work fine on the stock harness. I'm going to call Slee tomorrow to see what they have to say...

Low beam slee harness not working - solved

This^. I'm having this problem right now. It's intermittent and happens when I'm not in a position to check out the voltage/connectors. I'll try unplugging/reconnecting the harness at the bulbs to see if that does anything. I hope that it isn't the Slee harness. It looks way overbuilt and...

Can a driveshaft u-joint be reinstalled once it's been removed?

I've not seen those needle fittings. Cool! I'll look into those. I'm going to take the DS back the shop to have the joint place correctly.

Can a driveshaft u-joint be reinstalled once it's been removed?

The driveshaft shop installed the rear u-joint(rear driveshaft) incorrectly. I can't access the zirc fitting without removing the rear of the driveshaft. Yeah, I should've noticed this before leaving the shop. Anyway, I want to have them fix this but I don't know if these u-joints can be...

Did you figure out what was your problem? I am having the same issue, except the high beams will stay on if I push the stalk switch forward.

Impressed with fuel mileage. Should I be?

I lost ~2mpg going from stock 275's to 295's. I was getting 15-17, now 13-15. My truck is up to date on all maintenance, tune ups. I did recently advance the timing 3* from the stock NA setting, but don't really notice any difference. I also have been running 91(premium here in CO) for 3+...

    Front axle vibration

I have the same thing. It's kinda driving me nuts. I just did a complete front axle service with all new parts(birfs, trunions, updated spindles and rt. inner axle, seals) and the vibration didn't go away. Sux. What condition is your front driveshaft in? Worn u-joints can cause this also.
