If I recall, I think I just pulled them out? Unfortunately my memory doesn’t work well from
4 years ago! It can’t have been overly complicated or I wouldn’t have bothered doing it
As I mentioned in the video, not all relays are created equal. Of the two in my hand, one is rated at 30A, the other at 40A though they look identical, and I suspect neither of them would do that continuously. (Actually, I believe they are rated 20/30A and 30/40A meaning the normally closed...
Back to some more of the basics for this episode - why you shouldn't upsize fuses, what the different color crimp connections mean, and why you don't get a shock from a 12V car battery.
Enjoy - I hope it helps!
Had a request for a video about dual battery systems - here is how mine is wired in the BJ70, with explanations of why. Hope it helps someone at some point!
Little bit of a different direction for this episode, covering electrical crimp connections, how to make proper ones, know they are good, and the tools you need.
Doing it properly is easy with the right tools!
Ok, taking a step in a slightly different direction today, with some preventative maintenance for your electrical system - so there is one less thing to troubleshoot later!
Fixed my drivers side window. Window fell out of the track (metal base), which kinda sucked. Basically used sikaflex to sick it back in the track, which appears to be how the previous one was held in.
Also fixed my turn signal issue, anyone else have cracked bulb sockets? For those who want...
Well happy Easter/April fools day (don't worry, this one is not a trick!)
Today I did a quick-ish (longest video so far!) diagnosis and repair on my turn signal. Fairly straightforward procedure so long as you can remember the basics, and break the problem into smaller parts.
Hope you enjoy...
Today I used my "big heavy gas guzzling 80" to drive up to the fire hall for my first day of training driving the tanker. I will never again feel like my 80 is heavy, slow, or goes through a lot of fuel. Also, I have far fewer cool lights on my 80.
"Anything" that forms a dielectric shield - yes. A thin coat of copper based anti seize will not help, and will in fact make things much worse.
The plastic wrap is a perfect dielectric shield.
