JC Whitney Sheepskin
I installed a pair of sheepskin covers last week from JC Whitney for $99 for a pair.
Item number ZX264299 at jcwhitney.com
I am pretty pleased with them especially at that price. I had searched all over locally, and kept returning the covers because none of them fit...
Along w/ GBELL210, my tranny position plug had corroded. It was to the point where the "D" pin was shorting with other pins to cause nasty revs in the engine. I am guessing that the computer didn't know if the tranny was in drive, neutral, etc. I just pulled out the corroded culprit pin from the...
I bought a $2 rubber / steel muffler clamp seal and removed the steel part. I slid the rubber part between the bumper and exhaust and used the included bolt and nut to cinch it in place. Works great.

With the 80 series being such a great offroading truck, why are the values continuing to plummet?? I used to own a FJ-62 and "upgraded" to an 80. Soon the 80 will drop below the 62 value. Hopefully, the prices will bottom out soon!
Well, since the tranny seemed to think it was in low and not upshifting, I limped it to a tranny guy for a scan. He said that there was a fault in the PRNDL switch (fortunately, he did not charge for this scan), which CDan clarified that the PRNDL switch and the Neutral Safety Switch are the...
Thanks, I'm hoping it's electrical. However, occasionally, it actually does seem that it is stuck in Low and will not upshift (but not all the time). If I stop the truck, turn it off then restart it, it will shift fine. Intermittent problems are never fun to figure out! Thanks for the ideas.

I have a '97 LX450 with 100k miles on it. Starting yesterday, when putting the shifter in 'D', the 'D' lights up as usual on the dash, but then the 'L' lights up also intermittently. The 'D' and the 'L' are lit at the same time. The 'L' stays lit even when the shifter is in neutral, reverse, and...
Thanks for the tip. I just checked it again and actuated everything a couple of times. Now the front diff locks and the rear does not. Half way there, I guess!

It doesn't appear that my Factory Lockers are engaging. The dash lights blink on and off for both front and rear. I cannot hear any actuator when the switch is turned. I have a '97 w/ 89k miles. I have searched the site for info on rebuilding the Locker Actuators with no luck. Any advice for a...
Frank,
It does re-arm after "n" seconds when none of the doors are open. Therefore, it sounds like it's OEM. I will check out Beowolf's website. Thanks,

A somewhat related subject with my LX450. My alarm arms all by itself when parked (like in the garage). It's pretty annoying when I go to get something out of the car later, close the door, and the alarm goes off. I called the dealer, and they said that this is not supposed to happen. It should...
I just bought a 1997 LX450 for the wife (hopefully she won't like it and I can get it!). It has 86k miles. There is a fuel smell when shutoff. It might be during driving, also, but it's tough to tell when moving. There are no visible leaks, and she has not forgotten to put the gas cap on. Are...
I may be in the market for an 80 series. Are there better years than others? I've heard that center locking diff changed at some point?? How can I tell if a model has the center locking diff?
Thanks in advance.
