I am a weird-ass prepper and the potential for EMP damage to the electronics of a vehicle is highly over rate IMO. There has only been one conclusive test of high altitude EMP propagation, and that was operation Starfish Prime in 1962 in the South Pacific. The resulting damage was greater than...
I can tell you the black connector slides in an up/down orientation. Not push/pull like the gray/white connector. The "button" style contact in the center of the sensor matches with the flat back of the black connector.
Found it. Found two plugs - a gray one and a black one. Black one is disconnected. There's only one prong on the sensor. No dangling wire anywhere that I can find. I have no idea where to plug in this black plug.
*sorry for the thread hijack.
*Found some good pics in this thread. Looks...
I ended up resorting to the screw driver through the filter method. It still took about a 1/2 a turn of the filter to get it to break free. I think I'll have a small child "hand tighten" it this time. Thanks for all of the input.
It's the small OEM filter and it was properly lubed before I put it on. Hand tightened - no tool used to torque it down. The wrench crushed the filter a bit but now it's at the limits of the range of the wrench and I can't squeeze it any tighter. I tried putting a towel over the filter to...
I must be the only retard on this forum who can't remove the damn oil filter on my Cruiser. I have a long history of bad experiences with oil filter and I'm about to set this damn thing on fire. What tool do you guys use to remove the filter? I have three different ones and I can't get access...
You ain't kidding. The vehicle does, too.
There's an ass load of PM work that needs to be done to the beast I'm just too broke to do anything about it right now. Got laid off in April and I may actually have to sell the Cruiser.
That's a relief. Looked like I might need to remove the entire sway bar. Might as well get two and replace them both. The mechanism of failure seems to have just been old age and needing to be replaced. I haven't done anything but drive it back and forth to the gym since June.
I drove the cruiser to the gym yesterday and noticed a rattle coming from the passenger side under the floor board each time I drove over a bump. I parked it and upon inspection noticed a bushing of some sort is clearly busted and no longer in the sleeve. I have no idea what part this is or...
It looks like I'm going to have to. I'm really not looking forward to the project. As noted above, there is no space to work in order to get behind the connector so I'm probably going to have to remove the entire blower which I'm pretty sure means purging the AC. Whatever I do I'm damn sure...
Pics of plug and relay:
I cleaned it up with a wire brush and applied more di-electric grease. Reseated the relay and it only comes on if it's sitting in the exactly right position. Clearly it's not making a good contact. I unplugged it after just a minute of trying to get it to...
Problem NOT solved. Symptoms returned recently and the plug is melted much worse than it had been last year. Obviously I have a short somewhere that's causing a much higher current to reach the plug. Where do I start troubleshooting?
Getting the correct part was a bit of a challenge. The FSM shows this as the "blower speed relay". The dealership exploded view of the area calls it something else. Anyhow, the correct part is part #88630-20020. I cleaned up the contacts as best I could but I really couldn't do much since...
You definitely need to loosen the tensioner bolt all the way. It is a B!#*& to get to. Most people remove the battery and battery tray but you could also remove the driver's side front tire and go at it from the wheel well. If not, you'll need a 12mm ratchet wrench. See my recent thread...
