Burning rubber smell strong for a few mins then gone. Has come back as very faint smell a couple of times. AC compressor going out? Belts are all new. How can I check if the AC belt is the culprit? I have read about the emergency brake return seizing up, but I doubt that would come through...
Driving around today a strong burning smell suddenly came through the vents with the AC on, it lessened after about 45 seconds and is faint from the outside of the truck but no longer comes from the vents.
Any ideas?
Edit: The temp guage read normal dead center.
Sometimes that plastic sleeve can deteriorate and muck up the latch operation. I just grabbed an exacto and some pliers and started cutting and yanking until it freed up.
I can't speak about the Cooper STT's but the Aussie's love the Cooper ST's. Excellent street tire with a see through channel that evidently squeezes the mud out better than any AT type tire (although this is far from and AT). The tread is very aggressive and I'd give them a look before you decide.
I'm kind of a newbie around here, but from my reading I think that if you're going to be adding the extra weight of a winch/bumper etc up front you will have to get stiffer springs.
Go with the OME but I'm not sure what stiffness the parts you list are.
There is a big section on lifts in the FAQ and on the Slee website.
OME stock height will give you another inch lift netting you 2" with those tires. Or, just get some new Toyota springs if you're sure you don't want a lift.
Since you bumped this thread to the top, I'll give an update.
I went with the Cooper S/T in 255/85 size. The Aussie article posted above is what sold me. Not high on the sexiness factor, but I think they have the best chance for doing what I want. They go on today. Thanks for all the input...
***spent an hour searching and reading but didn't find this exact topic covered***
The question is: Is there an A/T tire that isn't completely useless in mud?
Almost every comparison or review thread includes statements like "they're fantastic in everything but mud where they fill up and...
