Really big fan of this winch, but it's a space hog and I'm trying to retain the stock bumper and place the winch front frame rails. I've got it mounted but the solenoid box is a beast and won't fit without doing some major fab work.
I'm looking for pictures, threads, ideas, etc on places people...
My front passenger seat has the normal problem of moving forward but won't move backwards. It's on my list of things to fix, but I was waiting till better weather since I don't have a garage and hate working in wet Seattle weather. Anyway, I'm going snow wheeling this weekend and a buddy asked...
Last week I put an OME lift on my 97 TLC. Included in the kit was the OME steering stabilizer, which I also put on. Last weekend I take my truck on a fairly light trail in about 90 degree weather. I would say there was about an hour or less of heavy steering around switchbacks and obstacles...
Shop charge me $750
Also, happy ending to the story, just as I was about to order a bunch of new stuff, the machine shop called to say they found my parts. They apologized and over-nighted them to me. All's well that ends well.
Just posting these for posterity. Really wish I had found these videos before I did my head gasket replacement. If used in conjunction with the FSM and this IH8MUD thread, you should be in really good shape to do this job on your own.

Thanks for the help everyone!
For those that are interested, I spent some time cuddled up with the FSM and it looks like the missing parts are ...
- No. 1 Engine Hangar
- No. 2 Engine Hanger
- EGR Pipe
- Heater Inlet Pipe
- Wiring Harness Clamp
- Throttle Cable Bracket
- ECT Sender Gauge
- ECT...
Trivia time! Today's topic: Name those parts.
Took the head to the machine shop and it still had some pieces attached. They told me not to worry, they said they'd bag them for me. Alas, they did not and now I have to replace them.
I need to buy all brackets and pipes shown in the photos. Any...
Got a good reminder about carrying a fire extinguisher at all times. Not just to save your truck, but your surroundings as well. The van below caught on fire and lit the surrounding hillsides in the North Cascades on fire. Only one road in and out in this area. We were one of the first ones to...
I did a thing!
Took a rock through a rear sliding window a while back. Finally replaced it this weekend. It was easier than I thought it would be. Told my spouse I wouldn't be able to assist in a number of things on Saturday and when I realized I was in danger of being done early I had to slow...
Yep, that was probably us! A bunch of Toyotas save for one Montero. We stayed a couple nights up there in the rain and the snow. Tried to take the road to the summit on Saturday, but only got a couple miles before we parked and split off into groups for shooting and snowshoeing.
Went looking for snow. Found some.
Truck pictured isn't mine. It's my buddy Salue's. He's a member on here somewhere.
He asked if I wanted to take the lead. I was like, "you go for it, buddy." I didn't know that those that don't plow, dig. Sweating with your shovel in 4 feet of snow is a...
Put the exact same tire on my 97 last summer. They're incredible. Last weekend in a group of 6 trucks going through snow that was up to 4 feet deep, I was the only one to not get stuck. I credit my driving obviously, but we all know the truth is in the tire.
Was thinking about that. If I applied a bead of silicon and left it on for about 8 months (it's a long rainy season here), do you think that would cause any other issues? Paint wear, stains, hard to remove, etc?
Not yet. Good catch on the small rise on the right. That's why I shifted the sign slightly more in that direction. Full test should be today as the nanny uses it to ferry the kids around. I'm 100% confident that if it rattles, whistles, or just flies off completely our dear nanny will do me the...
Incessant winter rain in Seattle finally made my sunroof start leaking. Got a magnetic sign as a bandaid until I have a chance to fix it. Figured as long as I was getting a sign...
... I may as well make it look neat, right?
Sign was ordered from esigns.com using a pic I took with my cell...
