    Gas smell pressure in tank

This would happen all the time to us when we lived in Colorado, especially at high elevation. Today's crappy gas begins to boil off the more volatile compounds at some fairly low temps. Combine high fuel temps, with low atmospheric pressure and you get a lot of fuel boiling off. Part of the...

CV front shaft for a 4L80E to Toyota TC

As the title states, I've put a 4BD1T/4L80e engine/trans in my 80 series that is mated to the stock TC with a piece of Advanced Adapters hardware. The clearance between the 4L80E pan and my stock front drive shaft is about the width of my semi-large fingers, about 3/4 of an inch. I'm running J...

1993 LC Oil Sender Ohm range

Anybody know what the ohm range is for the oil pressure sender. I think my diesel engine conversion blew mine out as the gauge goes straight to max now. Cold startup showed 110 psi on my mechanical gauge in the engine bay, but it settles down to 20 psi at idle when fully warm. Looking to...

    Another Double Cardan Driveshaft Question

Why do you believe this to be the case? I have 100K on a rear DC shaft on my Jeep and about 40K on my LC rear DC shaft. Both pull double duty as daily drivers and off road rigs. Properly set up, DC shafts run just fine, but they do take some understanding of what is happening when you...

    Fj80 hf2a to nv4500

You can go from a NV4500 to a 19 spline split case that came on 60 series land cruisers. You lose AWD since there is no viscous coupling, but then you can go with manual hubs which may be a plus for some users. Adam

    Normal compression for 199k

I believe spec is 170. At 240k my highest was 169 and lowest was 162. I was impressed to say the least. Adam

    Pillar Pod gauge holders

I sent mudplugger a PM looking to buy one of his pillar mounts. No response as of yet. Are these still available? If so, where can I get one that will work for the 80 series, left hand drive? Thanks, Adam

    A/C diagnosis help

Air flow is up when going down the highway, but so is the compressor speed as well. I'm not regeared so highway rpms at 70 mph are about 2200. My condenser is clean and the fan is moving a lot of air, even at idle so I don't believe it I need to change the fan fluid. I'm thinking it might...

    A/C diagnosis help

The A/C in my 93 (R12 system) works great when cruising down the highway. Air comes out the vents at 40-42 degrees. However, when I stop at a light, the temp starts to climb. When idleing for a prolonged time, it will get up to 60 degrees. I charged the system at the beginning of the...

Need to borrow an A/C compressor in the Salt Lake Cit area

Does anybody in the SLC area have an 80 series A/C compressor I can borrow for a few weeks (does not need to be working BTW) so I can mock up a mount on my 4BD1T diesel conversion? My truck is a 93 and I will be re-using my compressor in its factory location. Just don't want to pull my unit...

Plastic plugs for fender flare holes?

I used black plastic automotive plugs with some black RTV smeared on the backside of the plug to help glue them in place. I wiped off any excess on the front side and it has worked fine for 3 years and isn't really noticeable with my dark green paint. Cheap and effective. Adam

My experience with improving overal braking

Not buying it. Simple physics. More pressure, or in this case increased vacuum per x amount of surface area equates to greater force exerted on the master cylinder which translates to greater hydraulic pressure at your calipers. Go run down your street with the vacuum hose to your booster...

My experience with improving overal braking

Not sure if you are agreeing or disagreeing. Bottom line is that the booster is a linearly activated device. It provides assist from 0" of vacuum up to 29.? inches of vacuum. The more vacuum the more assist. I'm only getting 17 inches at this time with my engine which is in the range of normal...

My experience with improving overal braking

Not sure I agree with you. Have you ever tried using the brakes with the vacuum hose disconnected from the booster? You effectively have no brakes at all. Higher vacuum should enable more hydraulic pressure to reach the calipers. That's why a lot of cars in the 80's had auxiliary vacuum pumps...

My experience with improving overal braking

Vehicle stats: 93 LC, 262,000 miles, 6000lbs and running 35 inch MTR's. As you can imagine, braking was less than stellar. It felt like my brakes where good up to the 50% threshold and then no matter how hard you pressed the pedal, there was no additional braking going on. I had the rotors...

    Backing Plates availability

On my mini[truck I trimmed them down and it worked fine. On my 80, I must have decided to eliminate them completely. I just checked and there is no sign of them being there anymore. No problems to report by taking them off. Adam

What front toe setting for 80 do you use?

The toe procedure I use involves a piece of plywood with a nail driven through it. Jack up front of rig so tires are just off the ground. Lay piece of plywood on the ground so nail is just barely touching tread blocks of tire. Stand or sit on plywood to keep it from moving around. Spin tire...

Switching my 97LC-4bt swap to Isuzu 4bd1t

Keep up the great work! I have the same adapter as you, but I'm going the 4l80e route mated to the 80 series transfer case. I'm a few months behind you (rotating assembly is being balanced this week), but my project should pick up steam over the summer. Adam

Performance comparison of locked FZJ80 and Jeep Rubicon

I currently own both an 80 series and a TJ set up about as identical to one another as you can get. Both are lifted, locked and running 35 MTR's. IMHO, the LC is cheaper to set up initially, at least compared to the TJ that didn't come with a rubicon package. I like them both and can't bring...

Just got a 93today, these are the problems so far

Mostly likely you need to dry off the coil/igniter that is on the drivers side of the engine and above the frame rail. Trace the wire from the dizzy back to it. I washed mine the first day I had it and almost didn't make it back home. Adam
