Haha! Wasn't thinking quite that small for tires :)
Looking good Peter...and I missed the part about your cab being a 79 series. I was thinking 75 and have been in a few 75 cabs an find them tight. Never been in a 79 cab, but I know they have allot more room.
I still think if you plan to...
Just my .02 worth!
Peter...long time to talk! Cool sounding build you are embarking on here! As I read through your requirements they looked strikingly similar to what I had in mind as I planned the build on my expo rig. Now that I've got some time in the saddle, and since we have similar...
Dunno about "proud", but willing to push the limits to flop?, nothing wrong with that....if youre in a rig that's built for it. It's all part of seeing what your limits really are. Why have a truck capable of hard-core wheeling if youre not willing to find out what it's really capable of? In...

Some dude at CM06 this year had a surplus mine truck...75 series cab/chassis. He was from SLC and I'm pretty sure he said he got it from a mine in Montana. It had a PZ & these bad-ass rockwell looking axles (not really sure what they were, never got a close look) it was beat to hell, but cool...
Surveyor,
I'm down in NorCal & have done virtually every mod possible incl AXT, AC and rad on my 87 BJ70....would be glad to offer insight and give you some pitfalls to avoid. For the AC, the LHD 70 series evap case is essential & will be the toughest part to find.
As for SUA up front and...
I have the 2.82 / .92 in my BJ70 and with 35's and 4.56 diffs, the speedo is perfect. The crawl ratio is only decent (by rock crawling standards) at 58:1. If I were to do it over, I'd have bucked up the extra $$ and gone with a Marlin Toybox instead. That way you get a much better crawl ratio...
coxy,
while your choice of what youve decided to do with your truck makes me want to yak, it is YOUR truck. As long as youre happy with it, great. I'd like to hear that stereo though:grinpimp:
oh ya...the double bumpers....hmmm...not so much:)
I like the Cobra 75WXST...it takes way less room to mount and then you can transfer your unit from one rig to the next (as long as you have an additional control unit mounted in the other rig)
As Norm said, all Auto's came w/ 2.28 Tcase gears...so did all H41/42's. The H55's came with 1.96
I run 35 MTR's w/ 4.56 R&P and the Marks 2.82/0.92 overdrive gears in the T-case and my gearing is spot on stock and my speedo is accurate
Wayne,
What you have there is a future collector vehicle that if you keep it stock, cherry and low KM's, it might be worth a big buck some day. There are plenty of 70's out there you can build and wheel....but this aint one of them. Remember what you told me to do with mine back in 98...
Since the 3B has a hard time getting out of it's own way, I'd say youre crazy to try & tow a car. 90 HP + 5,200lb vehicle + another 4,000 or so lbs for the Honda?? You do the math:)
My 70 is turbo'd & re-geared and has a hard time with my loaded M101 trailer which near as i can figure...
