Been driving it the last few days.....wow what a remarkable difference. It’s way smoother and revs much more willingly than the 1HZ. Neat motor. The H152 made a HUGE change to the truck. Turning just about 2000 RPMs at 75mph....that’s about 400 or so less than it was vs the H151. I’ll have...

Last few bits and pieces got wrapped up.....upgraded the main tank’s fuel line and switching valve to the HDJ7x one. Need to pull the bed so we can run a 12mm hard line to the valve....maybe this week. Got the prefilter and fuel filter mounted in the last of the available space. Looks...

Was able to take some pics of the lights this morning......pretty bright. Probably will bring them up just a touch. Low beam: High beams:

Good to know.....going to look into their pumps.

Not a bad idea at all......wouldn't need the scooped hood either which would be ind of nice since I'm not crazy about having to get another hood plus paint, etc. Certainly easy enough to find room for a pump and heat exchanger on this truck......hmmmmmmm

Not yet. I'm probably going to do a top mount from Cross Country like on my camper truck but I want to collect all the stuff I need first....DPF hood, etc. Camper has a 1HDT so I'll have to get Cross Country to do a hybrid wide nose 79 to FT setup. Probably just a different elbow for the...

I spent most of the day talking like Ahhhhnold while holding these lamps. Ha. They do have a very robotic look.

Pretty much finished under the hood....stole a FZJ80 air cleaner assembly off a parts truck and adapted it to make a 3.5” intake into the turbo. Catch can got mounted. AC all buttoned up. We ended up using a 2003 Tacoma compressor with an FT clutch. The Tacoma compressor allowed us to use a...

Started a new set today....these have the reflector cut to clear the fan so the bulb assembly is further back in the housing. Using a different shroud on these as well. These might go black for the 70th anniversary look.....not 100% into the look but it’s growing on me. Maybe with the same...

Not so sure I’m all about the look of them but their output is as good as any of the modern high dollar cars we work on. Amazing. My LX470 has a set of the H1 Morimoto Bi Xenons in it and these seem to have double the light output. The xenons are extremely impressive on that LX......crisp...

I used these breathers.....saw some guys adding them so I figured it couldn’t hurt to have a little more venting since there is a fan in the lights now. They’re crazy bright....pure white with an amazing cut off.

Builds Let's build a 79 Series from parts...

I drove my camper truck up to Virginia over the holidays and realized that the lights weren’t ideal(I run some higher end LED bulbs in them that are actually pretty good) and since we have always messed around with headlights in the shop, I figured why not give the lights in the pickup a...

While the trans was out we popped in the bigger fuel pickup assembly. Used an HDJ79 part. Because of the 80 series frame and the way it fits, this tank is really hard to get in and out....so we just dropped it enough to access the pickup....then stuffed it back up. We’ll pull the bed next...

More fun. We cut down the VDJ long input shaft to use as a clutch alignment tool.....I don’t know if using it made the trans slide in perfect or what but I don’t think I can ever remember a trans going in without any messing around. Slid right in first shot.

Decided to treat myself to an H152. No real reason the truck needed a new trans but bringing down the RPMs on the highway was something I wanted to do. I’ve been driving this truck a lot more than I expected....should be a great combo. Of course these need the input shafts swapped so we did that.
