reviving an old thread, but you wouldn't happen to know what the correct part number for the 1hx bell housing and input shaft are? I am having the same issue with the extra 2" from the firewall with my swap.
Thanks,
Mine isn't as dangerous as the dreaded "death wobble", but the minion nut was loose and there was some play in the pinion that was contributing to the vibration. I'd ruled out an out of balance wheel some time ago (new wheels + tires) but at the moment they are in need of a good cleaning so...
Good to hear you got it ironed out. I'm narrowing it down to a worn pinon bearing on the rear diff (well, that's just where I'm at). The process of elimination...
Curious as to whether the new OME kit fixed the problem with the death wobble. I have a pzj77 with a wobble at between 100 and 120 kph (but only some of the time) and having some trouble tracking the source down.
No worries. I suppose that most trucks with the r151 are not being driven on roads where 100+kh is a possibility, at least, from what I remember, not in Africa.
Hard luck
I'm the one who totaled his HZJ77 in SK on Tuesday. Sorry to hear about your accident. The a** end sure stepped out on me in a hurry too, I suppose the big difference is that I flopped her right into the ditch and you hit a railing first, hence you didn't go over as many times...
Thankd
Thanks for the comments all.
1st day back at a computer since I posted the pics of my rolled 77. I will probably be parting it out when the insurance is settled, but I haven't even heard from my adjuster yet so that may be a while.
And yes, the mud terrain tires were probably partly...
This Tuesday past (November 16) I hit a patch of ice while heading to Kindersley, SK. Unfortunately the results were a broken collar bone and a seriously damaged cruiser.:crybaby: Guess I shoulda shelled out for some better winter tires. Here are pictures after she was towed to town...still...
HZJ77
My 1990 HZJ77 had electric push-button hubs - since changed to manual locking hubs - and electric diff licks front and rear. It is handy to have the 2 extra doors and the 1HZ is a nice smooth diesel.
why 24v?
Not positive, but I think the 24v in the 70 series is due to the truck being NATO spec. for sales in Europe etc. Certainly many of those provided to NGO's in Africa during the 90's were 24v.
Wayne,
Having an expert prove the ICBC report incorect would not be the same as proving that it was fraudulent...very different legal test for that. However, the ICBC report was based on poorly researched and selectively chosen bits of information (IMHOP) so showing it is biased against RHD...
I have 1.5" spacers on my HZJ77 and need to know if fitting 16" LXX450 wheels which are hub centric (shank + washer style lug nut) is possible without pulling off the spacers.
Thanks
PTO on HZJ77
Louis,
When I bought the truck it had a short bumper in the front. I needed a full bumper to pass the safety in Sask and the guys at ATEB, where the cruiser was being stored pending sale, had a line on a PTO wich and bumper for less than an ARB bumper alone.
So I suppose it...
