Now that’s my kind of artwork right there. A cruiser looking like a cruiser should, having done lots of cruiser things that day. What part of FL you in? When I’m back that way, I’m in Brevard county.

If you like the style, but don’t want the splitties, GCC lower spec 7x cruisers come with standard grey tubeless steelies. Super tough, 16”, and I believe has the same width as the steelies. I have one in my container that I’m selling w/ the factory dunflop tire cause I don’t personally care for...

I love those 100 series triple jet windshield washers! The standard 2 jet ones suck. May have to grab a set and install them on my 79.

That sub-tank gauge though… 😍 Hell, the whole cluster gauge. I’ve got the super simple, you don’t need to know RPM’s or oil pressure gauge... Just speed, fuel and battery voltage. 🙄

This stuff right here is the part that is down right terrifying to me. Electrical stuff, if not done VERY well, will plague the most beautiful, mechanically well built cars forever. I’ve seen so many crap cut and splice jobs, where someone saved money by using heavier gauge aluminum wire, or...

So, I just bought myself a 2017 VDJ79 double cab with 117k kms on it. It’s Dubai spec, manual roll down windows and such, with the stripped down cluster gauge. Looks like the camel is of similar spec. I’m very interested in swapping out the gauge panel for the one with RPM, oil pressure, water...

I had a similar issue with a solar company in namibia that I spent thousands with on home solar equipment. Once the main technician retired, the sales person would only send me one email a day, and wouldn’t engage via whatsapp or anything else. Was very unhelpful. While the kit was good, I sent...

And this is why people believe in magic. It couldn’t possible because of engineering geniuses like @SNLC and his crew. Brilliant, absolutely freaking brilliant.

I love how you included the steering stabilizer mount. Is that normal on an 80 series chassis?

1HZ or VDJ V8 in HZJ78? Help me please..

VDJ78 x2. The 1HZ cannot hold water to that engine. The only thing better IMO is the 1HD-FT/FTE.

So I forgot @TonyP and @SNLC, I forgot to use the scan gauge on the beach trip, but not on my 3 day bush trip this week. While traveling, I towed a caravan for roughly 400km on and off road, my scan gauge read between 171-181F throughout the trip both on and off-road. Outside temps were about...

I’m running my VDJ200 on a trip to a beach in northern namibe province, Angola on Friday. Will be combo highway/offroad. I’ll plug my scan gauge in and see what temps I get along the way and report back.

Yeah, it was in South Africa and he did it a few years ago. I’m probably off on that. Maybe that was the price of the rebuild alone. The Rand has crashed over the past 5 yrs so it’s probably a good bit more now.

In my neck of the woods, coming across a 1HZ powered Troopy, 76, 79 double/single cab is easy peasy. It’s the 1HD’s that are a challenge. Can you get a new long block from Toyota or Partsouq? An aquaintance of mine in Cape Town rebuilt a 1HD-T to better than OEM (port/polish/blueprint), and it...

Just for education sake, will a 1HD engine from a RHD cruiser work in a LHD cruiser, or was this part of the reason this was purchased? I’ve always wanted a 70 series w/ this engine, and have kicked around the idea of doing something here in Angola at some point, but all the 1HD engines will...

Will look like most OZ and RSA Troopies with this one Will look like most UN and NGO troopies with this one Theses two would give it a unique flair. As you have something unique, stay that way. Chalk Gray or Olive all the way!

It’s amazing to me how much dirt and crap is still in this body even after all the cleaning it’s been through. And my wife wonders why I’m a bit OCD with our cruiser. I just need to show her this thread and she’ll understand. 😂

My 200 is a GXR coming from Toyota Gibraltar, so it has the twin turbo intercooled V8. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very nice to drive, and I can easily find myself doing 140kph along a flat stretch of road without even thinking, even while towing the caravan. Still, the 1HD-FT... That is an...
