How hard would it be to make one for a 55 series? I think all that's available for it is a dash cap that looks ok, but it adds an extra layer and the glue looks like it can come undone, etc. A brand new dash for those would be pretty nice.
congrats!
There's a pig section on mud:FJ55 Iron Pig Preservation Society , and BobM is reproducing a lot of those parts:

Where in Wyoming are you? Sheridan here...
The view of the side of the Silver Spur from the Holiday gas station. I ate there a couple times a while back- probably 14 years or so ago, but then there was a hepatitis c outbreak linked to them that they shut down for and I haven't eaten there since.:lol:
Your description of it is...
if he runs out of material (which seems doubtful ), someone just needs to buy a cruiser and have him deliver it for them.
Great thread! I agree with all the comments that this would make a great book, better than Who needs a road, and probably appealing to more than just the cruiser...
I don't think they make an ARB bumper for the pig, I bought an ARB for a 40, thinking if it looked good on the pig I'd put it on there, and if not on the 40.
I don't really like the way it looks on the pig, and the holes are off by about a 1/4" or so.
The older style 40 ARB might look better...
I dont know for certain. Person selling them was advertising as off mini truck and forerunner. I asked for ones off solid axle mini but did not get that.
The housing is the same as the ones off a landcruiser except for the back. They look just like the one in Pappys picture.
I looked at the kit in your link to Longfields, I don't see any specs on it. Is it the same size as stock 30 spline gears or does it make it so the snap ring will fit on the birf (i.e shorter gear) ?
I have 30 spline gears from SA hub installed in the IFS hubs right now.
Do the longfield...
your pic looks like exactly what I have. I switched out the gears, when I posted about the hubs on here a couple mud members said I could switch out the gears and use them and hooked me up with them.
So do I just need to put the IFS gears back in and sell them? Or will they work with the...
Dials not attached yet, I was thinking the same thing about it maybe moving up and was looking at what I could find to compare it to on the web to see if it was put together right. Pretty sure it is right, just not an exact fit for landcruiser birf.
The clip holding the inners in wouldn't...
was just about to say I thought there was a difference in outside height on long hubs and then you edited :)
Anyone have some IFS hubs to see if they're the same?
Pretty sure the birfs I used were off the '84 60 I got with the axle (I have some spares around but they all are the same...
I did that a few times, pulled with a pliers on the bolt for extra grip. I don't know if you can see in the picture but the one on the right, which is the one that doesn't have room for the clip is 1/16" deeper inside than the one on the left. So the part that goes over the birfield is 1/16"...
I finally am getting around to finishing the disc brake converion on my 40. Everything on the axle is finished actually, but when I was going to put the locking hubs on I ran into a problem.
I had one pair of hubs with my axle and two other pairs I bought and put two pairs on my other rigs...
Do a search on JTO and you will find why people dislike the vendor. I've only bought from them once and it worked out, but shipping was slow.
Nothing bad personally, but with all the stories on here, I wouldn't buy from them again.
As far as the kit goes, I don't know anyones really...
