Here's my post from earlier this year:
After a long search, and I mean long, for a legitimate Toyota color code for stock rims (steelies) I can attest there is no existing factory evidence for it. However, in the immortal words of Sean Connery, "never say never". However, in the vacuum of...
If you're going to the trouble, use the nuke method. take apart all items and bead or soda blast all at the same time. you'll save money and time in the long run. If you use hydro blasting they can add a sulfuric acid mix to prolong the bare metal from rusting. I have fenders in my garage still...

Can anybody tell me how to find out if my '72 came with long jump seats or short? With a roll bar or not? Seems it is a weird year when a lot of changes were afoot.
thanks
Does anybody know if there are any aftermarket exhaust systems that allow the PTO shaft to remain in the rig? For the cost of a bombed out original manifold I could be looking at a Spectre or equivalent, but none that I've found leave room for the shaft. Ideas?

If im not mistake though, your color code is a powder coating. The quest was for a modern paint code that matched the elusive T1447 found in the Toyota documention. My mistake if that color code comes in air dry paint!
I also found this to be true. However, this was not the quest. The quest was to have a modern paint code by which you could go to your local professional auto paint store and order a national brand enamel, LPU or epoxy and get the correct color. Most parts companies have what they call Toyota...
I appreciate the T1447 number and I found it quickly in factory reference material too. No pro paint distributor could connect Toyota T1447 Grey into a current/modern translation of any professional paint chip. This was also my experience when I called CCOT, Man-a-Fre, about five more restorers...

Thats the most articulate detail I've seen yet. I have a call in to Specter's rehab department and If I don't get a chip code out of that, then your idea sounds firm. I also may just lighten up to the slightly metallic verson that CCOT's reman Bumperettes come in.

Thanks, but that code does not work at my local paint store that carries PPG Ditzler Nason DuPont and other pro car paints. Do you know where that code originates from? Is it a Toyota code? Is it some aftermarket rattle can code? This is the problem with all the searches. Nothing matches...
Does anybody have the stock grey PPG, Ditzler, Nason or DuPont codes for stock rims (1972 '40) ? Everywhere I look I only get names like Pewter and the mysterious " T1147", or a sixty response thread that talks about anything but the damn codes! Even toyotareference.com doesn't designate rim...
Ok
I've been all over the site and inter web looking for a picture of the bench seat mounts for my 71. I know that my bench seat is thru 9/71 but I'm getting the feeling that my 10/71 had some half year issues in areas or its just a 72 model year. It may have come with the three back bench of...
I'm slowly restoring my wifes '71 '40 and it was originally white. The previous owner shabbily painted it red. But as I add parts back to it I'm not very happy with all the shiny emblems on a half-a$$ed red paint job. So eventually I'll cross that bridge of what will be the best color for that...
We just picked up a '74 Pig with a Chevy 350. However, there is no heater core or piping. Only the fan. Does anybody have a good suggestion for a core that works well? Stock or Pick N Pull out of any other vehicles? Since we're at scratch, might as well ask.
