How cold do you get? I found that 80W90, and syn, doesn't shift well, especially 2nd gear, when the temperature drops. I was told by a Toyota guy to run the 75W90 conventional for that reason.
Could be. It's an aftermarket cable to work with the longer H55F. It could also be a stupid install by the owner (likely). As said above, the manuals suck for installing the brake bits. At least my 1969 FSM sucks.
Can you pull the carb and mail it? @65swb45 (Mark, 818-953-9230) is in Burbank, but I think he might be backed up. He would be an excellent CA choice if you are not in a hurry. Also, @FJ40Jim is another excellent choice in Ohio, (About Us). Both of these fellas are the finest old-school Land...
Correct me if wrong ... can't he use his existing bellhousing with the ears, with the FJ60 tranny? What about driveshaft lengths and flange bolt patterns?
What ever is online is the latest and greatest.
Edit, OK I see why you are asking. Cumcast shut down all the personal storage a few years ago. Here ya go. It was moved to safer storage.

Saving me the hassle of rereading what I said, I'm just going to comment on a few things.
The H55F is long with the split transfer case. My rear driveshaft is very short. Moving back the rear axle is just about necessary. This was done when I had the springs made. Keeping it spring under axle...
My H55F and my R151F hate 80w-90 of any flavor (I've tried several). Especially when the temperature drops into the teens. The only oil that works for me is the non-syn 75W-90 Valvoline. It was recommended to me by a Toyota engineer buddy.
