    1967 fuel tank revival

Working on a 67 barn find. Pretty much complete. Runs when fueled down carb, but can't get fuel from tank TO carb. Fuel line is clear from tank to carb. Tank needs to be cleaned out, but fuel siphon tube is full of rust and sludge. Got the first 11 inches cleared out butno luck on the...

    Dizzy Teq

Howdy! It has been a little over a year since ToolsRUs passed, and I am finally going thru the shop sorting out all of the Land Cruiser parts that he had accumulated. So far I have cleaned up and identified 4 carbs, 3 igniter/coils, and 1 dizzy. I have another dizzy that I am confused about...

Frame/suspension was heavily modified, so I dont think anyone would try to take it back to stock OEM, but anything is possible with enuff cubic $$$. And, it could be a Chevy small block on 4 links holding Dana 60s for a rock crawler by now. Just hoping somone remembers enuff of its history to...

    ISO specific 1966 FJ 40.

It is, or was, a bit of a rare bird, so that's why I thought it might of been noticed by a Mud member over the years. I know that it may be NOTHING like it was back then, but I am compelled to make the effort.

    ISO specific 1966 FJ 40.

Howdy! Trying to help a family friend relocate a rig that belonged to his father many years ago. It did have some rather unique features, so maybe one of you may be familiar with this 40. He lost track of it when it was sold in the mid 1990s in Prescott, Az. It was originally red, but...

Knuckle rebuild and trying to get bearing out

Aluminum bar stock, round or square, will work as well as brass. Sometimes easier to find. Last thing to use is socket extention if you have one that long.

Anyone use John Deere Grease in Knuckles

We use a lot of GREEN GREASE, but we use it exclusively for driveshaft slip joints and ujoints. This stuff is really thick and does not migrate away from the working surfaces. it does NOT contain any moly, so I would not recommend it for steering knuckles. We use Schaeffer's 5% moly there...

    Fj40 v8 outrunning the radiator???

On my last v8 rig, I recored the stock radiator with a much better unit and relocated the lower hose fitting so I could run a 19" solid fan. Old school simple, and it ran cool in the summer while wheeling in the desert.

    Locker vs Rear Differential Rebuild

Start with the basics. Have you checked to see if the diff is properly filled with lube? If so, I would do a drain and fill so you can see if there is a lot of loose metal in there. Do the cheap n easy first, then move on to things like pulling the diff cover.

Is it possible to take apart the PTO driveshaft

Years ago, I heard that the crosses in my FJ55 steering column were the same as those in the PTO shaft. I replaced one in my steering using one from an early Corolla? Driveshaft. Fit perfect. Took the old part into a NAPA store and they measured it with a micrometer to match it up. Seems...

If a little coolant spilled on the belt is enough to make it slip, then you need to tighten the belt.
