The external regulator is less than a year old as well. I will try my old one and see if anything changes.
In regards to the amp meter. The black and white/blue wires just attach to each end of the fusible link and that is it? The fusible link doesn't attach anywhere else?
Thanks Pin...
The 5 amp fuses are good in the little black box. Does the fusible link connect both the wires coming out of the black box together and then to the battery?
The alternator is a replacement Toyota and yes the voltage is up and down on my meter. The alt is about a year old.
I just installed a fusible link between the B post on the alternator and the + on the battery. I assume this is correct??
As far as the Ammeter goes. There is a fusible link between the White/blue side of the ammeter wire and the battery and the black wire from the Ammeter is grounded. Is...
Currently I've got the white/blue wire coming off the B post on the alternator and going directly to the battery. The fusible link coming off the ammeter is just hanging there not attached. Should I just run the fusible link directly to the B terminal and leave the other white/blue wire...
I've got a loose wire that is keep my 1980 FJ40 from charging. The end the fusible link attached to the end of the voltage regulator has come off on one end. The end that is attached goes to a black wire and to a white wire w/ a blue stripe. So where is the loose end of fusible link attached...
Posting this for my Dad. He just installed an Orion in his '75 with 4spd and 2f. He wanted to know if a crossmember is needed, used, available, or does it depend on other factors like tires, suspension?
Thanks for the feedback and thoughts!
So an isolator that works with internal regulated alternators does exist?
Also, does anyone know if a marine switch could be wired into my set-up and allow both batteries to be charged, yet still protect the cranking battery bank from depleting when the AUX bank is being used?
Thanks again.
First of all this posting involves my responsibilities at work and one of them is to figure out the best solution to adding a bank of AUX batteries.
I've spoken at length with some electrical guru's at NOCO, Battery Mart and Power Brite to figure out what my company needs, but I still have...

I wish these things were still in production. My Dad has two mounted in his 40 and they provide plenty of storage for tools, spare parts, etc and don't take up all the floor space.
He paid a guy $75 for the pair and a name brand Hi-Lift!
May not be of concern BUT....
Something to think about if you have not already.
I really like the 2 pcs. ceramic coated header sold by MAF, BUT, I have a 1980 FJ-40 and the exhaust runs outside the driver's side of the frame. I wish I had visited the option of a custom exhaust before...
I measured my shackles and they are 4.5 center to center, so if go with a shackle 5.5 center to center that would give me approx .5 inch of rear lift, correct?
Currently, measuring from my gutter to the ground, it sits 1inch lower in the rear.
What brand of shackles are you running and...
