FJ40 Pics from "Back in the day" (70's, 80's)

I purchased my ‘82 FJ40 from the estate of a gentleman that had passed away in his mid 90’s. I’m the second owner and they were kind enough to pass on a few pics they found of my cruiser.

    What would you do?

I purchased a low mileage ‘82 FJ40 a year ago and the body is incredible shape.. minus the area around windshield. I need to address this rust.. the top of it has never been off, and from experience and reading up, once that too comes off, it’s hard to get it to fit just the same Way.. that...

    Sunny the 1979

Such a great find! I’m in love with the mustards.. it seems like there has been quite a few amazing finds out of Texas lately. So jealous what’s the story behind it? Why such low mileage?

    Towing an FJ40 on a U-haul trailer.

I used the uhaul straps on mine.. 33 x 10.5’s.. probably should have bought some other straps but it worked for the 500 miles I towed it.. looking back I would definitely buy some other straps.

    Accident in the 40

Legends 4x4 does restorations. I’m sure they could give you a quote of what it would take.. good dudes and they do quality work.. I also think state automotive in Midvale might be able to point you in the right direction as well.

Show me your front bumper!!! (Seeking opinions of front bumper for '82 40)

The day I took this I had just spent some good time power washing it after I purchased it and it had collected a good 20 years worth of grime.. Looks worse than it actually is, nice eye though! This pic was right beige I purchased some new tires and took it in for a great alignment and balance...

    Power steering FJ40

I appreciate it. And that’s why a guy like me asks stupid questions. Advertised as a 40 steering box, I’ll find pics of a 40 steering box and 60 and make the comparison so I can tell the differences next time.. appreciate the quick response

    Power steering FJ40

Ran across a power steering gearbox. I’m trying to evaluate cost on if it is worth it to me. I was hoping to stay close to original, so I have been looking for older power steering gearboxes. What should I expect to pay for one? How bad is the picture below? Cost to rebuild? Any insight would be...
