It wasn't doing it before, but, yes, I've noticed it stumbling sometimes now--usually in 3rd or 4th gear. It will stumble/hesitate briefly, then go on and run okay. It will start three or four times in a row and then all of a sudden, nothing. Then I pour a few drops of gas in the carb, and Zoom...
I don't think it's the carb fan because I can shut it off and immediately try to start it again and it won't. It runs great after it starts. Other thoughts?
Stock 2f with freshly rebuilt carb and head. Put it all back together after a blown head gasket, and now it will only run with choke pulled out. Starts good with it pulled out fully and runs fine as long as its pulled out just a little. But as soon as you disengage the choke completely it shuts...
Mark,
Thank you for the advice. One more question: What kind of gasket do I need to put between intake and carb insulator and between carb insulator and carb? I didn't want to order one and made one out of some of that high-temp stuff, but it leaked. I know...just order one. But I'm cheap...
Gentlemen:
I have the stock Aisin carb on my 2F. It's completely desmogged and the carb was rebuilt recently by Jim C. I blew a head gasket, got it all back together, started it, but it won't stay running. Fuel delivery problem. Then I noticed when I was pouring fuel into the top of the carb...
Good luck cutting the holes. I used a hole saw and when it hit the inner metal layer it threw me offline and I made a mess. Bottom line: it seems to me that you should never have to cut a head gasket yourself for any reason. But, I want everybody to know that Cool Cruisers was nice and is...
Guys, I normally surf the 60 forum, but I was wondering if any of you could help me out. I just bought a head gasket from Cool Cruisers of Tex that doesn't have all the water jacket holes cut out. It's for my '87 60 with a 2F. They're marked but are intact--about 5 or 6 of them. Should I try to...
I spoke yesterday to a guy who's into hydraulics and he says the older Ford compressors, say off an LTD, are the way to go. No idea if it would fit in the smog pump location, though.
Here's the story on my 2F: Rebuilt head, rebuilt carb (by Jim C), surfaced manifolds, desmogged completely (ecept for charcoal canister). Got it back together, finally. I've adjusted the valves, looked high and low for vacuum leaks, checked fuel flow, and I think the timing is good. But it's got...
Anybody know of a company that makes 35 inch mud tires narrower than 12.50? I did see some Swampers that are 10.5 wide but I'm looking for something that's a more traditional mud tire. The only thing I've found is Buckshots--they're not measured in a conventional inch measure but come out to...
I had the head rebuilt, carb rebuilt, and both manifolds surfaced for flatness. And I desmogged at the same time. Now I've got it all back together and running. But it's running rough--and there's a very weak throttle response. Could it have anything to do with the vacuum advance on the...
I tried to post this a couple of days ago but don't think it went through...
I'm wanting to put a belt-driven air compressor in the stock smog pump location on my '87 60. If anybody has done this or seen it done, I'd like to hear from you.
Thanks!
Chris
Has anybody installed an air compressor in the stock smog pump location on a 2f-powered 60? I bought on of Jim C's replacement idler pulleys but then I thought why not put a compressor there, since a belt-driven setup would be superior to an electric compressor (I think).
Pics? Advice...
Does anyone have photos of the carb linkage for a 60 (87 model)? I can't for the life of me figure out how it goes back together. It's not in the manual I have either.
Thanks,
Chris
