    Brake upgrade

Seems like a very ambiguous regulation, is there any performance testing involved? A bit of useless info but in NZ, the equivalent certification involves multiple stops from 100km/h within a specified time period to test brake fade. Hence people often run a very aggressive brake pad and some...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Did my first rebuild of a full float hub. Years ago I bought a fully floating rear axle for my 75 FJ40 - the axle was from an FJ45 I assume. The 40 recently started locking one rear wheel under light braking which is real fun in the wet 😨 Turns out one of the brakes was full of a grease / diff...

Builds 'Little Yellowy' 1982 BJ42 LX build

Enjoying your build mate. Nice to read about a RHD diesel 40 as they're a bit more common in this part of the world. And also the model I'll buy if I ever get another Land Cruiser. Shipping that bar from the states must have cost a packet? The number of times I've loaded up a virtual cart at...

What is your FJ40 Restoration Shop Garage Set-up?

Not the biggest, but after having the 40 stored outside for years, it's a luxury to have four walls and a roof :D \

Troubled desicion - '83 barnie purchase / resto

That Megacruiser sure is one big unit. Don't like to hear the gearbox is tough to tear down, both my cruisers have noisy boxes and I've been entertaining thoughts of a home rebuild for years.

    Bilstein shocks valving

I am running 255/70 and find them on the firm side of 'just right'. In my opinion the 360/80 would be too aggressive in a relatively light and leaf sprung rig. I read that leaf springs have a small amount of inherent damping from the friction between the leafs, don't know how true it is in...

Another HJ47 Rebuild - Budget Ute

Nice to see another Cruiser in the southern hemisphere getting some love. Just a note about Wattyl Killrust. I have used it in the past on my 40 and found it doesn't adhere very well and flakes off easily. That is the rattle can stuff, haven't tried brushing or rolling. Recently I tried POR15...

    Bilstein length recommendations please

With stock mounts in the rear on my 75 FJ40, I have found the 10" Bilstein 5125 to be the correct size. It rides nice with the 255/70 valving, though I can only compare to my old worn out shocks. I have ordered 8" 5125s for the front, again with stock shock mounts, hopefully my measurements...
