Lee,
When I had the head of my 2F done I brought it to Lee Auto Parts in Des Plaines. Their machine shop rebuilt the head and cleaned up my manifolds real nice for about $380. That included one or two new valves as well. I have an extra oil galley plug that goes between cylinders 5 and 6 so...
Even though you say you're convinced on the brakes, I'm still going to say definitely do it for easy of repair down the road and for pure stopping power without frequent adjustments.
As far as wheels, the stockers are definitely the look to have, but you could always go fifties with your dad...
Be careful when ordering from Keyster.. Some of the kits come with jets and others only come with gaskets, o-rings, balls, and a new diaphragm. Make sure you find a supplier that can verify that it comes with jets. Also make sure they are the stock sizes. A buddy ordered a Keyster kit and got...
Definitely a good price. I did all my body work and disassembly myself and drove the tub over to the shop sitting on a 5 gallon bucket. My neighbor is a painter at my local shop and he did it after hours for me for $1600. That did include the hardtop (which I gave him in pieces) and the...
Look behind the dash and see if the cable housing pulled out of the crimps holding them to the actually push/pull knob. When they pull off the cables do not move properly and will spring back to their 'extended' positions. I have the same issue on my 40 and haven't had the time to pull it all...
I bought a set on the chrome ones off of eBay a few months ago. There's a guy that lists them occasionally. I'd be willing to part with mine, but I sprayed 'em with the Duplicolor truck bed liner spray. With some stripper they'll go right back to chrome, so if any of you are interested, PM...
You know what I just don't get? If STC is going to make a replica OEM top, why not make the bows to go with them? I bet that about 99% of all soft-top owners would be using the OEM style if they could only get the bows. Can't be that hard to bend up some steel tube...or can it?
Ehsan's tops are pretty close to OEM and look great. Just getting one sent here is expensive. Does STC still make the OEM-like soft-top if you have the original bows, or did they stop making them?
Blends are waste of money. Either run full synthetic or use a good dino or diesel oil. I use Rotella dino in all the cruisers and I'm switching to Rotella synthetic 5W-40 from Mobil 1 in the Rodeo.
Anyone use this type of terminal switch except with a small 15amp fused lead to keep clock and radio settings?

If it is the same OEM Toyota one as on the 60 series trucks, then you just push it back in. Do not turn it. Mine is specifically for a 60 series, and the knob looks different than the OEM 62 hand throttles. Now I know yours is on a 40, but I imagine it is simialr to the 60 one.
I had the same problem on my 40 when my rear sill was rotting away and found it to be flexing too much. You can try to shim up the catches at the top and bottom of the door to make a tighter fit. I used some small aluminum strips which I folded and tucked under the catches and they ended up...
