All-Foreign Car Parts - Finding a water pump

I had great luck with them as well. cruiserbrett referred me to them when I was doing my clutch job since they had great pricing on bearings. I ended up building my clutch kit with Koyo and Nachi bearings, and Aisin disc and cover components, and remember it was around 40% less than a comparable...

Does OME not have a 4" lift kit for FJ40?

Those aren't OME springs, they are Safari springs, which was manufactured by McCoy Springs in Canada (at least as of last year when I got the kit, sans shackle reversal). They just put OME shocks on there. From my research, the only why to make an OME 2.5" spring lift into a 4" lift would be...

I don't know if this helps you out at all, but I snapped a couple pics of the smog equip on my '82 FJ40.

Clutch is shot....what else should I do while in there?

Finally getting around to posting pics. As you can see, the clutch disc had seen better days. I am surprised I was able to get by as long as I did. Some of the rubber was gone, and the metal ends were rolling around in the clutch assembly. The hardest part of the repair was getting the tranny...

Just out of 4 year storage. Clutch issue.

If you have a vacuum pump for bleeding, you can do it that way from the slave.

I think my flywheel is loose?

Oooh, good save. Did you use loctite when you assembled everything several years? Glad you found it in time.

    U joint cost

The local dealer here quoted $82 a pop as well. Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters was out of stock when I spoke with him a week and a half ago, but had some coming in early next month (May) IIRC. He carries the Matsuba ones, which I have heard is the next best thing to OEM.

Clutch is shot....what else should I do while in there?

Metal shielded (by Nachi IIRC). I ended up getting it from all-foreign.com along with the Koyo release bearing, and Aisin clutch disc and Aisin cover. $166 shipped for the complete kit, which was cheaper than the local dealer and Napa. I know the later model double rubber sealed pilot bearing...

Clutch is shot....what else should I do while in there?

I definitely appreciate all the tips and advice from everyone, it has been a learning/trying experience, as it is my first clutch job and trying to do it right the first time. I do thank everyone that has helped out here so far. An update from last night: two steps forward, one step back...

Clutch is shot....what else should I do while in there?

Okay, now I am going to have to try the bread method first when I get home. I will let you know if you have another convert.

Clutch is shot....what else should I do while in there?

Figured I would start off with the grease method, and I popped the bearing shielding off, but the bearing remains. Since grease now just pushes through the ball bearings, I am guessing the bread method probably won't work on this one now. Off to the hardware store to try the carriage bolt trick...

Clutch is shot....what else should I do while in there?

Okay, got the parts and started in on this thing. Clutch disc was very much gone (I'll get pics up later). Dropping the flywheel off at the machine shop today, and then going to battle on the pilot bearing removal. I cleaned up the area around the rear main to see if this is truly the leak...

Clutch is shot....what else should I do while in there?

Perfect, I appreciate all the recommendations and advice. Most of the parts are on order and hoping to get them around mid-week. I know I will be posting up questions along the way. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Clutch is shot....what else should I do while in there?

The clutch on my '82 FJ40 is not long for this world. Specs on the truck is a 2F motor, 4-speed tranny, split case transfer. New hydralic system (clutch master installed this week, new hose, slave only a few months old, fluid flushed/refilled/bled this week), so I know it isn't that. I am...
