Beefier the better. Biggest complaint I have heard with those building bumpers is they wish they would have used thicker material in places.
What is the incremental cost if you just use 1/4 all the way around?
Weight is not an issue for me.
I also like how the MAF 4+ bumper has the...
As far as the independent swing outs I guess it just personal preference.
I run a tailgate and softtop so if I wanted to get to something behind the spare tire all I would need to do is open one side vs. opening both sides.

I think it would be best if it could hold a minimum of a 37 in standard config. 4plus has this ability.
not crazy about the dependent opening swing outs. why not just make it eith two latches.
my .02
See pic in post #11. The assembly is welded to the swing out arm from the mfg.
This is why the two models are now the same and the only difference is the cooler rack you determine is best for you.

I am very interested and you are my next state neighbor. Need pics of the prototype.
Do you know how it is going to attach? Similar to 4plus with brackets into the bumper?
The cooler rack most definetley needs to fit the stainless Coleman cooler and ARB fridge/freeze.
You need to use...
Spoke with them on the phone and the 1046 and 1045 use the exact same bumper and higher mounted cooler rack brackets. If you look at the pictures of teh 1045 and 1046 you will see they use the same bracket to hold the cooler cage. The only difference is the cage itself.
alf
Great job on the write up.
According to AL at MAF the 1045 and 1046 are the same base bumper the only difference is the cooler rack that bolts onto the base. The 1045 is tubular and the 1046 is flat stock. I believe the 1046 can hold a larger cooler aka ARB Fridge as the corners do not have...
Adjusted the pump, set the timing back to factory (it was at 15 advanced), dribbled seafaom down the carb. I went for a test drive a and blew out all the seafoam and she ran pretty darn good. Power was back and not hardly a hesitation. Still need to pull the carb a take a look. I am pulling...
Pin,
Specifically should the accel pump react so slow and take so much leverage to actuate?
So if the hard start is flooding why does the manual accel pump action cause it to fire right up. I would think this would flood the engine worse.
If it is flooding what is the culprit?
A...
Facts: 79 2F with stock Jim C rebuilt carb. The carb was rebuilt but not installed for almost 2 years and just sat on my work bench.
Issue: Accelerator Pump is very slow to react and is very stiff. If actuated by hand by pulling up on its lever assembly the pump squirts nicely. When...
Does it sound like someone is banging a wrench on your floor board?
If so check your hood hinges for slop. Easy way to see if this is it is get a piece of rubber house and but it under each hinge and close the hood. This will take the play out of the hood and just may fix your rattle.
I...
They both are attempting to solve the same problem which is giving your wheel clearance of the brake caliper. Backspacing is safer as it is one less part. However those who already have and investment in wheels that do not fit often go with spacers.
In my case I got backspaced wheels that...
Badass,
I have a 79 desmoged with Jim C rebuilt carb. Here are a few comments directly from JimC.
"On the dizzy, use the outermost vac advance fitting that is farther from the dizzy body. Put a cap on the inner fitting. The vac advance hose should connect to the lowest vac fitting on the...
