I bought most of my parts from Georg at Valley Hybrids @orangefj45 and Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters. Georg was awesome about discussing part numbers for common things they use when they do conversions in their shop. Between him and Kurt, you'll be in good hands.
I know there are plenty of posts about aftermarket seats for our 40s but I have a specific question I haven't found the answer to by searching
I'm about to put the Overland Werks seat frame kit in my '67 40 and buy a set of Corbeau seats to go in it. I see that the Baja SS has vertical tabs on...
That hard brake line fitting needs to go through the bottom of this bracket and flexible hose through the top with a brake line clip securing it in place. Leaving it flopping around like it is is just asking for issues.
It's 4.25. That was the first thing I checked when I opened the box since their website doesn't specify.
You had given me that Napa part # when I ordered the rest of my stuff from you but I couldn't get it to work in the local store here or on their website.
Thanks for the input guys. I went with 27-6537 from Summit Racing. $99+$75 core charge. Box came in today and I can verify that it is indeed a 36 spline 13/16 input shaft with flared fittings and 4 mounting holes.

Georg @orangefj45 offered to sell me a box when I bought the rest of my PS swap stuff from him. I didn't take him up on it because I figured it wouldn't be any big deal to find one local. After looking around, I'm probably going to reach out to him. I know he has what I need and I won't have to...
I have tried Rock Auto. I have searched the part numbers I have and have also searched by a vehicle application chart that I was given at a local Napa. All of the 4 bolt, 4.25 turn boxes say Return and Rebuild only.
That one is showing out of stock not available for online purchase. I see it...
I'm in the process of gathering parts for a saginaw PS swap on my 40. I have searched and read most of the threads pertaining to Saginaw gear boxes and the issues folks have had with obtaining the right one. I am now in that boat and looking for an update as most of the threads are a few years...
I'd clean up whatever oily mess you have and try to track down the leak for sure before you go tearing things apart. It's not uncommon for the timing gear cover to be warped if you didn't check it to make sure it was flat before replacing the cork gasket.
Did you put sealer on the gasket? How...
My flywheel has a few holes around the outer edge. I stuck a long 3/8" extension in one of the holes and then rotated the motor until the flywheel pinned the extension against the bellhousing. Worked great.
I put mine on a stand and used a putty knife for the clumps of obvious stuff as mentioned above. I then pulled most of the accessories off and started with the normal mix of noxious chemicals. Brake parts cleaner, engine degreaser, and at times, paint remover as my engine had been coated in a...
The pulley is riveted to the balancer. There is also a "key" that lines the pulley up on the balancer. I had a pulley get enough wiggle in it to start walking on the balancer. As a result, the rivet holes were opened up and the key sheared off. Balancer was fine. I ended up finding a used...
That's exactly what I did on my '67 when I swapped my 2f in. Got the matching wire extensions from @Coolerman. I just untaped the original wiring back down to the voltage regulator and then ran them along the inside of the firewall like you mentioned and out the passenger side with the wires...
Nope. Just zip those bolts out. The cover as well as that collar over the input shaft will slide right off giving you access to the gasket
Just replaced the one on my H41. Nothing to it.
I'll Georgle it then. I was supposed to call @orangefj45 today anyway to order power steering parts. I'll just add shocks to my list of topics I need to discuss with him.
