Sorry for the double photo, it's been a while since I worked on the forum.
If I am going to use the piece I will clean and paint them. If they are totally unnecessary I won't waste the time.
Hi All, it's been a while, but I am back at wrenching on a project. I am just starting to put my rear axle back together after a total disassemble, clean, and paint. I pressed in new bearings and seals the other night and this is where my question is. I am going to rear disc brakes. When I...
62 springs have an extra leaf to help carry the extra weight of the auto tranny. Otherwise they are the same.
Anyone know how the length of 60 series front springs compares to the rear 55 series springs?
There is something specifically different about the '82 from the rest of the later year 60 series, but I can't remember what. Pre- '85 the split case does not have an oil port for the h55 if you ever think you will go that route. I am pretty sure the bell housing will work without to much...
I like the look of your work too. It looks about factory but streched a bit. How much higher than the factory lip at the top of the wheel well did you go? How did you ease the raw edge to protect your tires?
Nice work. Did you reverse the rear springs? The axle looks pretty well centered in the wheel well.
What size tire are you going to? When can we see pics?
Thanks for sharing, this is what I was looking for.
I believe the square pattern is for the later model split case( late 85 and up).
Can you get to your flange and measure? Or, rotate your drive shaft against the flange, if the holes line up when you rotate 90 degrees it is sqaure.
What drive shaft are you going to use? Tom Woods only has...
Anybody out there have pictures and specs on their SOA 40 with an uncut body, i.e. rear fenders, rocker panels, and quarter panels left intact. Specs being, spring type, orientation(flipped or not), and who's shackle flip if one was used.
I am finally getting to the tear down of "Petunia" and...
If you can just get it to fit, then cut the ends off a little bit. Cut more on the left hand thead side though, a local shop is more likely to have that tap. I have had a few beers so talk to a shop first.
It sure looks like Ewheeler's rear moved way back with the 60 springs. Maybe I missunderstood what I was hearing. Or the perches allowed the axle to move more than just the springs. I have a set of 60 springs, fronts and rears, looking for a home. why two sets of rears? I am not sure how...
I just looked into all of these options a few days ago. I spoke with the guys at Proffitt's about all the different options and what the end product is. If a longer wheel base is the goal then reversing the stock spring is the way to go. If the long length of the spring itself is the goal, then...
I am thinking about the 79-85 mini's. As I am writing this though, I am realizing that if I got a hold of one, I would be pulling off the mini axles to put on the much older, drum brake, course spline, 40 axles. I would bet that someone could find a use for the mini axles though. Suzuki guys...
Cool, Thank you! Sounds like the differential would be more centered with the 40 axles(about 2 5/8"). Does that mean that the spring perch on the passenger side would not have to be notched out for the differential when converting to the mini's SOA? Are the pick-up's frames wider than the...
I am putting a set of 60 axles under my 62 40. So in the end I will have a set of 40 axles with a centered rear end that will need a home. Just thinking way ahead and probably too much.
