    2UZ FJ40

Merry Christmas to all. I second Tank5. If your heart is set on the 2UZ, then do it. Looking forward to seeing your progress. I'll be posting mine as I go along.

    2UZ FJ40

Someone just posted a writeup here on mud about the Sniper EFI. Seems that it worked out really well. Certainly much easier than a 2UZ.

    2UZ FJ40

I'm in the process of a 2UZ-FE swap. I was initially gonna do a 2F-E, but the siren song of the V8 was too much to resist. I'm running an H42L (I chose the L since the future plan is an H55 so it would be a straight swap) and a split case. I'm doing a complete restomod and have other projects...

    My 1UZFE build

I'm doing a 2UZ-FE + H42 (with future plans of H55) in my 40. I got a bellhousing from Dellow. Don't know what I am doing for clutch and flywheel yet.

Yes. Hood clearance is good, inner fender clearance is good.

    1965 FJ40 project

Some progress made. Sections of engine mounts have been rough cut. The plate section that will bolt to the block as well as the adapter that will bolt to the original engine mount frame brackets. As of right now, it looks like the original mount brackets will not have to be cut off. AC...

I like those seats. What are they from? You may have posted it prior, but I'm too lazy to scroll back.

LC40 with Toyota V12 twin turbo!

I'd love a 1GZ-FE in my 40. It's shorter than an F series and since It's a 60° block it's relatively narrow. Same bellhousing bolt pattern as a UZ series I believe.

    1965 FJ40 project

The major change of plans is ditching the 2F-E in favour of a 2UZ-FE. The maddening part now is transmission research. Long term I'd like to install an H55f. However due to juggling multiple build projects, I'm gonna do a 4 speed for now. Found an H42Long for a price I can't turn down. If I...

    1965 FJ40 project

The project took an unexpected turn in the last couple weeks (in a good way). It prompted me to make a trip to the beautiful PacNW on short notice. I'll have some good info and pics to post in a month or so. Exciting stuff.

    1969 FJ40 with 22RE

I can identify all too well with that. I have an 85 4Runner, NWOR header, cam, late model TB+upper plenum, 0.020" overbore, 4.56 gears. Off road and/or low speeds, it's fine. Highway flats, 75 mph no prob. Up any sort of extended grade, it's 4000 rpm in 3rd gear to keep 50 mph. I very...

Oh I know that, from what I was reading you cannot use the transfer case driven PTO if running an SM465

    1965 FJ40 project

It will see some general cruising time, but most of the pavement time will be driving to and from trails - that could mean 15 minutes on the road (forest service roads are just a couple miles away, but they are well graded for the most part and only require 4WD during snow season) to 4+ hr one...

    1965 FJ40 project

Need to add some info, I want to be able to use the PTO winch. I am assuming I could use the port on the 465 for that.

    1965 FJ40 project

When it comes to transmission choice, I have returned to wishy-washyness. I am tempted to stay from my Toyota purity (was pretty much sold on locating an H41) and look into an SM465. I love that 6.95 1st gear. I especially love the cost of an SM465 vs an H41. I am for sure using the original...

    1965 FJ40 project

Yes, the locked up F engine is for sale. I do have a potential buyer lined up for it and other F related stuff I will not be using. I was actually about to post an update. Not much of one, but some progress. I am back in WA to visit family for Christmas so I am gonna get some more stuff...

Looking good. I am gonna have to subscribe. I just picked up a 3F-E to embark upon my 2F-E build.

    My 1UZFE build

You can buy bellhousings specifically made for W5x and R15x series transmissions to mate to UZ engines. That's what I'm doing on my swaps. If I recall, it is not as hard to trick the OBD1 ECMs as it is OB2. Auto is only ECM since 1UZ never came with manual anywhere.

    My 1UZFE build

Subscribed. How is the progress? Is the oil pan a front sump or rear sump? I'm doing a frame off restoration of my father's 40 and I started thinking 1UZ/5 speed. Curious to watch your progress.

I'm 98% sold on doing an SM465. In that case, I could use the J30 bellhousing.
