Your springs are supposed to be on the backside of the shoe, that stops the shoe from collapsing in when you let the pressure off. This might be part of your problem?
Ok. The first thing I need to do is fix the brakes. I have an 85 mini truck axle that I had intended to swap under the front of my samurai. I sold the samurai a couple years ago so now it's a brake doner.
Its actually a 6/70 i thought that meant 71. The bucket seats are not factory I think. it looks like the PO removed the center and flip seat and cut the bottom. Im not sure yet. I won't know till i take them out and have a closer look.
I just found this thread while trying to figure out if my door panels were oem. I guess they are, and I was going to take them off as I'm a little OCD when it comes to factory correct.
So here's the story. My dad bought this truck 15 years ago from the original owner. as I bought and sold trucks and cars growing up I borrowed it from time to time. It always ran well. The PO gave my dad 5K in receipts for a rebuilt F and various other repairs. It runs great but was sidelined...
Check the cable going to your starter for cuts or corrosion. If its clicking that's the solenoid for the starter engaging with low voltage. It's got to be the terminals or a loose connection if the battery is brand new.
i bet its going to Vancouver. I see them up for sale on Craigslist Vancouver all the time. I just cant justify buying a RHD when there are perfectly good BJ 70's to save all over BC. ;)
not sure but almost positive that the outers are mini truck. As for why....maybe the front axle is out of a different truck or something like that, as for why they are in bad shape they are still 26 years old. the last year mini truck that fits is 1985. My cruiser is a 71 and Im just about to...
Yup,
Jsut looks like the PO did a swap to minitruck front brakes. The write ups Ive seen on them say you have to clearance the insides of the ears to get the birf to fit.
Your GTG.
