The round hole in the front bib places the entire hood too low. I think I saw a photo on a friends phone that showed a simple bracket attached to the valve cover, front most bolt. Anyone seen that? Seems to make sense. I slide mine just in front of the valve cover . Tight fit but pretty...
I was approached at a car show by a gentleman who owned a '68 FJ40. Said he still had the original tool roll. I was able to buy it from him for $400.00. In other words, he wanted me to have it. We have become very close friends from that chance encounter.
Thanks Brad, Spent most of a very rainy day researching same. Have a line on the adapter and have an inquiry in to a vendor. (Probably one you mentioned.) I am awaiting a notification of an invite only show in Aventura , FL high end show. (Motorcar Cavalcade) Considering a rather ambitious...
hey Brad, Just saw the photo of your engine bay and it looks like the carburetor is a weber. I am trying to use an FJ air cleaner with my weber. I need the adaptor. Any idea where I can find one? Thanks. Rod W. shakerj279@aol.com I am a novice at using this site. 1h8mud
I was able to procure an authentic tool roll from an original owner of a '68 FJ40. Said its the only thing he kept after selling it. It is quite complete right down to the plastic pouch with the feeler gauge and mini screwdriver. The Owners manual was missing but I had one already. Says he...
Awesome!!! I am of course not privy to your motivation to sell. After what you have done, I hate to see it all be removed from your world. I will definitely keep track of it on Bat. Good luck with the auction.
This is all very helpful. I have never been accused of being a mechanic. That will probably not change. At least I have now begun the process of getting educated before I attempt to effect a repair/replacement. The forum and its contributors are really a tribute to the willingness that many...
Oh man! I knew I was getting in a bit over my head! I am replacing the water pump on my '68 FJ40. I have the new one and it came with a gasket. I have cleaned the mating surfaces. I am wondering if I should remove the back plate on the pump prior to putting the pump back on. Also, should I...
The oil pressure gauge on my '68 FJ40 shows good pressure at start up but then slowly fades to almost nothing after the engine warms up. Every time. Any suggestions?
E, I recently decided to replace my replacement Door Jamb VIN plate. Found a vendor on ebay, Carboneliveries. I am told (by 1h8mud member) that they do a good job. Not cheap. I also got an engine compartment plate but those are now sold out I believe.
