FJ40 Cross-Country Expedition: Will YOU join us???

FYI... baton will be getting passed on to @Mesa Woman and @mesa man in less than two weeks... April 26/27. We are meeting up in the Escudilla Wilderness for a brief camp, some hiking, and of course a handoff of the briefcase/baton. Anyone else interested in getting in on the baton passing, post...

Builds 1963 FJ45 SWB in Cavalry Blue

Am I wrong in thinking it now just becomes a matter of snagging the crank pulley with 3 slots and using the Vintage Air setup?

Curiously no number on the block… or it’s been long obscured…

I'm wrong... it's got a crankshaft nut. Clearly not an F135.

FJ40 Cross-Country Expedition: Will YOU join us???

So, based on input the last couple of messages I've put together a planning aid. All circles in the map below are 200-mile radii. If that's too much, or not enough, I can change accordingly. @Honger - Red @myquestoyota - Light Green @mesa man - Turquoise @OlYellr - Blue Solid Axle Summit -...

FJ40 Cross-Country Expedition: Will YOU join us???

About half way to Solid Axle Summit last year I thought to myself "You should have brought the briefcase!!!!" You up for a meetup somewhere in NE AZ/NW NM? It'd be cool to work it to the PNW and then across the northern half of the country back to NE... if we could get it back to @hecrod that...

FJ40 Cross-Country Expedition: Will YOU join us???

There is... And prior to my entry it had last been signed in 2018... and I signed in 2021... to my great shame it's been with me for almost three years. It needs to move on. Perhaps I should start a Travelogue Part Thrice and spur this into gear...

FJ40 Cross-Country Expedition: Will YOU join us???

I've got this one... here in the Phoenix metro area. Happy to meet up by 40 with anyone. I've had two meetups between here in CA fall through... happy to get it passed on and moving again.

VIN and Engine Block info: The bonehead painters went right over the build plate which is fastened with Phillips screws... I'm going to be working to remove the paint and preserve the build plate.

That's very cool. The same UPS guy and I have chatted several times about Land Cruisers... he dropped off a steering gear for me yesterday and was asking about the SWB.

@KSDaddio (my father) and I have been importing restored cruisers, and project cruisers, from the Middle East for awhile now. Last year we were approached by someone local here in Phoenix asking us to do some work on their FJ40. We'd not ever considered doing this but it seemed like a fun...

    Builds 76 Fj40 Face Lift

The honeysuckle is deceptive... the blossoms can land on your truck and leave small smears of nectar and pollen, such a pain to get off!

We've gone from "the one who shall not be named" to "Ms. Revenge"... definite vibe shift in the 2.0 era.

    Builds Found an Arabian FJ40

Wouldn't hurt to have the CityRacer part sitting on the shelf for when that day comes. I checked vacuum on the hose when the problems first started... 16-20 psi of vacuum, so no issues there. A quick Mityvac test of the booster showed it was the problem.

    Builds Found an Arabian FJ40

My brake booster recently gave up the ghost... it was the original 1977 part. We restored it during the truck's Resto and even preserved the original part tag. When I upgraded to front discs and replaced the brake master some suggested I just replace the booster. But it was working and it had...
