My experience: We have a 2-1/2" OME lift. I got the 4 Degree Caster Shims from Cruiser Brothers. For the installation, I did pretty much as you outlined above. But the spring packs had to be drilled out to accommodate the larger pin diameter. I drilled one and it was very tough sledding. I...
Below is a pic of the intake manifold on our 1970 1F. From the thread above, I think that there shouldn't be any clearance issues associated with the wide runner manifolds. :)
Sorry for my ignorance: The webpage states: "2F Stainless Exhaust Header for 1969-87 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, FJ45, FJ55, & FJ60 with 2F engines" I would like to verify that the header fits a 1F. We have a 1970 stock 1F. The description is a bit confusing.
I went so far as to put one of the headers in my online shopping cart, but have held off pulling the trigger as I would much prefer to get the whole exhaust (soup to nuts) in one shot. Anxiously, awaiting final details.
Thanks again for getting this project up and running.
Thanks! Got it. I think that I originally installed the little metal stopper backwards and it was stopping the vent window from opening all the way. I ended up flipping it and I believe that they now operate as intended.
By the way your rear lift hatch turned out great. I believe that I...
Worked on fixing the vent windows on both of our early-style front doors on our 1970 40 series. The little metal stoppers that keep the vent window from opening too far weren't put in when I assembled the doors a couple of years ago. That was a very dumb mistake on my part because the doors...
This thread is very inspirational. Our vent windows on our 1970 didn't have the stops installed when the doors were assembled a couple of years ago by a dufus (me). So, today I removed the passenger side vent window and only partially lifted the upper door from the bottom portion (because I...
Make sure that the fuel cutoff solenoid is getting a constant 12v when key is on. You should hear an audible click at the carburetor when the key is switched to the on position. Ours became unplugged one time and the symptoms were similar to those that you describe.
First off, welcome.
Agree with what @charliemeyer007 says above. But would also add that depending on your timing light setup, you may not need the bb. If your timing light has a function that allows you to set the advance digitally, set it to 7 degrees and the line on your flywheel should...
A lot of times the block drain hole is blocked with crud. There is a good discussion of clearing the blockage here.
I believe that the OEM drains are still available. The one on the left was our old one which was plugged up solid. If you are getting a little weep of coolant at that hole, that...
Same question here. I have noticed that at highway speed the wind tends to push the vent window toward the closed position. Not sure if adjusting the tension on the spring will make a difference in this regard.
