If anyone needs a diagram or reference let me know, but I'm swamped at work and can't do a full scan at the moment. I have a 1978 2f emission control repair manual (pub #98270) that I got from SOR way back when.
Edit: Ah. Late to the party. "Thermostatic Valve" seems to be it. Still not mentioned by name. :(
That little guy shows up in the emissions manual, but I don't see where it's ever given a name and it doesn't have it's own test procedure like all the other components. :( 2 ports for CA, TP...
Here's a pic of him on Rubicon around 2003 maybe:
And a pic of it in the condition I last saw it in, needing completion after 1-ton axles install and him re-focusing on bikes and family. At this time he still had an 80 as his main daily driver. We went on a MTB trip in it. I believe he has...

Haven't seen him in a long time. He offered his Pig to me along with all of the LCML ownership/archives and some other really cool old Cruiser artifacts. Fortunately or unfortunately I passed. He's still active on some professional social media, but quit FB at some point.
So, I suggested he not take down the whole site when he's unavailable, but just disable the add-to-cart button. It took him about 30 min. ;) Best service evah.
I got this from City Racer and his site is temporarily down for the moment, so I can't check if I ordered the wrong one.
What's up with the longer version?
After I got it apart I see that the original one is in pretty good shape, and the whole rest of everything runs like cr*p at the moment...
The group-buy thread is better for responses though. Same link as above in post #11: Possible Group Buy - Flat Steel FJ40 Rear Fender Protection - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/possible-group-buy-flat-steel-fj40-rear-fender-protection.762198/
Not sure which post that was. I have heard that later 2f motors would almost stall, but the 2 I have experience with, a '76 and '78, didn't change much when applying vacuum there. With the valve disconnected and cold you can tell if it's working by pulling vacuum and seeing if it flows or not.
The load-sensing prop valve from a wagon would be pretty easy to retrofit as an experiment. Some or all 60 and 80 series came with them. Not sure if one from a minitruck would work or not, but seems like, and they're dirty-dirt cheap.
I was going to do this, but I have an 80-series master with...
A childhood friend, who I'm current friends with on FB, restored and owns my dad's Austin Healey. I don't think he'll ever sell it, but he has promised me 1st dibs.
It was originally BRG with painted spoke wheels. Not sure why he would change the color.
