exhaust manifold leak at the heat riser bushings

Great article and work around!! Wanted to ask you about the plugs. They look like threaded bolts with the bolt head on the inside where the butterfly valve used to be. How did you install them? Did they slide in with the threads? or did you tap new threads to match in the exhaust manifold?

Rear Diff Pinion Shaft Spacer 0 Clearance Question

Thanks for all who have provided input. This is an fj40 79/2. Semi float rear differential. Swapped out the OEM that PO blew up. Bought this one off mudd and the only thing I used from my old diff was the spacer. Keep in mind when that the minimum standard distance is .0024” that is very thin...

Rear Diff Pinion Shaft Spacer 0 Clearance Question

Hello, my pinon is spacer 29.8" and fits perfectly with no discernable space on either side. Unable to fit the minimum fuelers gauge .0024" on either side. I can remove it with my fingers and a dental pick so it does not appear to be binding anything. Is it ok to leave this way? The FSM min...

    Fj40+axel+housing backing+plate+torque+value

Anyone know the torque value on the 6 bolts on the axel flanges that hold on the rear backing plates? I have a 79/2 semi float rear axel. Looked through my manuals under diff, brakes and such but couldn’t find it. They were hard to take apart.

I found the old capture nuts and cut out pieces from the panels. Would having these pieces help in configuration of the new ones?

Thanks for the advice. Panels just came yesterday from CCOT. Waiting for the rest from Real Steel Cruisers. Not sure how I’m going to start replacing the panels yet. Maybe I need to find the correct dimensions since I only welded 1 bar across the back.

Update rear tub. The ccot panels are on the way. I’m adding a few pics of the rear tub and front floorboards. The areas that need metal work. Looking for help finding a replacement 1/2 tub to finish my build. I've looked at LCH, TROA, CCOT. Are the CCOT 1/2 tubs worth 8900? Are the others worth 2900.00? Wondering about fitment issues us vs col specs. Have also read about shipping problems. Do these tubs have any build quality issues...

2/79 40 square 4 bolt companion pinion flange rear differential

My replacement 3 member came from a 78. It has a circle flange. My drive shaft does NOT line up to the holes. I could double drill the flange ( like the ones at C.O but I’d rather have the OEM square faced flange that came as original equipment

    Mystery 2F Motor Spring HELP

Solved. We think it was from some gun parts being assembled near the motor on the work bench. I verified that oil cooler spring and relief valve are inside the cooler. In fact the spring is actually much larger. Thank you everyone!
