Check the fine print. I'd bet you that the "9 year warranty" for high-performance 2mil vinyl doesn't cover horizontal applications. If it does, be prepared to use that warranty.
Still, oughtta last 4-5 years.
The blind spot is why the FJ's come with the big honkin side mirrors.
Unless you're driving a panel van or something similar, you're not going to have a C-Pillar that's that big.
So, you're saying that not liking the way a vehicle looks isn't a good reason to not like the vehicle...
If you think that the dealer either....
A) Knows
or
B) Would tell you that a $80 switch could replace a $1000 option
...... you are effin crazy.
This will be something that somone will have to figure out on their own. TMS USA or any dealer aren't going to help you any.
Well, in all probability, the only reason the FJ Cruiser wasn't named "Landcruiser" in the first place is because Toyota knows the current US perception of the Landcruiser marque is a premium, luxury, halo vehicle for the Toyota brand.
Having both a 100 series, or it's eventual successor...
The only thing that really agitates me is how Toyota Marketing is insinuating the Land Cruiser essentially stopped in '83 with the FJ40 and continued with the 2007 FJ Cruiser, essentially ignoring 23 years (or 15 years for the SFA purists) of real off-road vehicles.
Like has been said...
Because it's such a limited production.
H1's are that high here for the same reason. Add import tax and the Toyota engineering and manufacturing costs (tighter tolerances, more ruthless QC) on top of that, and you've got an expensive vehicle.
They cost that much or more in the equivalent...
Most people's issues involve the following two reasons:
1: More complicated than SAS, which adds to the durability/breakability issue.
2. Less wheel travel than a SAS. Sometimes a LOT less wheel travel.
The rear bumperette with winch was pretty ugly and non-functional looking. I imagine a replacement rear bumper and the front ARB are two of the first aftermarket accessories we see when the FJ comes out.
Who's bubble you think you're bursting?
TMS = Toyota Motor Sales = North America. This is a North American vehicle, hence the North American specific discussion.
At this point, I don't see the FJ ever being offered with SFA in any country as I'd bet it would require a different frame to...
Agree. Automotive minimalism is more a name for a car-category anymore than an actual strict description.
Like Woody said, OEM's are hand-tied in just how minimal they can get.
Jeep offers a lot less than the FJ in their Rubicon, in interior, exterior, and mechanics, and they price out...
