For the 3 yrs I have owned mine it has been a good vehicle. I have wheeled the piss out of it and has led me to purchasing an 85 toyota. I like the styling of it and out of the box is pretty good at wheeling with tons of aftermarket support. The engine is strong and auto tranny shifts well for...
I also concur, that 8" is going to be hating life(though a very short one) under a 4,700 lb rig with 400 lb-ft of torque. If you got the money to do the swap, probably got enough to laying around that you might as well get a currie or diamond rear while your at it, oh and the 5.7 supercharger...
Looking good, I like your driver side cat skid better than mine. We left the cat in the stock location so the skid for it hangs below the frame rails. :frown:. Definitely going to change that now that I got the idea.
It is also amazing how much lower the stock tcase hangs than the lefty. Did...

How thick is the plating?
How far are they going to stick out?
What about adding a couple of slots in the plate along the outer tube so you can utilize a hi lift slider adapter tool?
I maybe looking to replace my current sliders

You can always add an aftermarket locker (Detroit, ARB) later when funds are appropriate. I suggest wheeling a stock fjc with some buddies to get to know the vehicle. A stock fjc, even without locker/atrac is pretty capable. Knowing your limits of the vehicle will serve you better than any...
Maybe it is just the picture, but it does not look like the departure angles are improved over stock . Definitely more functional than the stock plastic though.
