Has anyone here gone from 305 BFG KM2's to 315 BFG AT's?

The BFG A/Ts aren't actually all that bad in snow. In some sizes the tire actually qualifies for the mountain snowflake symbol. It's the hardness of the compound that makes them poor in slick conditions. I don't think the exceptional durability of the tire (read overbuilt) helps either with the...

Has anyone here gone from 305 BFG KM2's to 315 BFG AT's?

Gotcha. If you're going to keep the newish KM2s for your off road ventures, you might be consider putting a 315 on the 80 that will be a more comfortable ride than the BFG A/T. I'd recommend the Goodyear Silent Armor over the BFG A/T for street use, however I do recognize how individual tire...

Has anyone here gone from 305 BFG KM2's to 315 BFG AT's?

what's the rationale behind going to 35s for highway tires? It seems like the better bet would be to step into some 285/75 AT tires for the highway driving and keep the 305s for the fun off road stuff. I'd still be interested about the rationale.

best tire for offroad-mud, rock, snow

Trxus MT This is the tire other than the Duratrac I am considering when it's time for rubber.

Another tire thread? 285 vs 255 pros and cons?

Unless you have a compelling personal aesthetic-, performance, or overall build strategy- reason to run the 255/85 tire size, get 285/75 tire size. We never hear of anyone having traction issues with 285/75s. We never hear of those with 255/85 having traction issues either, but there are some...

    Tire recommendations

my bad - the Duratrac does not have kevlar reinforcement (however the Silent Armor does use Kevlar) and no I was not thinking of the MT/R.

    Tire recommendations

Nitto Terra Grapplers will work well in MO...as long you only encounter the occasional snow. TGs are not universally known for superior snow performance in comparison with other options out there. The TG has a stronger than average sidewall and will work well on gravel roads and pavement...

which tire better mpg? 285/75/16 or 305/70/16

I'd up size If this is a daily driver on road, why not check into 275/70/16 Michelin LTX M/S, which is the stock tire. The Land Cruiser drive really smooth on pavement with this tire. The great thing about a 275/70 is that the tire will be slightly wider than the 265/75, and a slightly wider...

which tire better mpg? 285/75/16 or 305/70/16

what model is this? I'm not familiar with it.

which tire better mpg? 285/75/16 or 305/70/16

    28s would accelerate darn quick.

which tire better mpg? 285/75/16 or 305/70/16

Michelin LTX M/S 275/70/16 was OEM. This tire weighs 41lbs brand new each. problem with aftermarket replacements is that many of the popular A/T treads come in 265/75/16 or 285/75/16 so it's either "downsize" to the slightly narrower 265/75 or "upsize" to the approx same width and taller...

GY Wrangler DuraTrac vs. Nitto TG

edit - some sizes do have the snowflake, others do not. 265/75R16 and 285/75/R16, do not have the snowflake. my bad.

GY Wrangler DuraTrac vs. Nitto TG

Hayes - couldn't agree with you more about the BFG A/T - it's not an admirable performing snow tire on road. It's probably great in somewhat softer snow...but the rubber is too hard on the tire for cold temps and there's no siping to create lots of biting edges...perhaps one of the most over...

GY Wrangler DuraTrac vs. Nitto TG

I have had the Silent Armors in the past as well and was very pleased with them - durability/wear was great, very quiet, and best of all, wicked in snow. I understand from a friend the TerraGrapplers like to pack up with snow...which would go along with your experience of the need to spin...

315/75/16LT Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs on Stock LX450 Suspension

...if my experience with Goodyear's Wrangler SilentArmor tire is any indicator, the Duratrac should be an absolute winner for on-road manners and ice/snow (again probably road-biased here). I have heard too much back and forth from folks about Nitto tires. I don't think they're as good of an...

    Goodyear duratrack???'s

based on past on-road performance with Goodyear's Wrangler SilentArmor tire, I am sure the Duratracs are likely to do very very well in wet and icy conditions and will roll quietly for such an aggressive tread. I would love to get a set of these, I may actually get these over Cooper Discoverer...

Which tires BF Goodrich or Michelin LTX

I'm also running stock size LTX tires on my rig. They are definitely lighter and smoother than a 285/75 BFG and will for sure increase gas mileage. I think the LTX tires run very smooth and they are a great choice. Unfortunately, the LTX generation that are on my truck do not have any open...

    BFG A/T 315's (Pics request)

If you are looking for similar tires to the BFG A/T in a 315 size, check out Goodyear's brand new Dura-trac tire. It will beat the heck out of the BFs in snow for sure - it is mountain snowflake symbol rated.

    New Goodyear MTR Kevlar

Agreed. The Duratrac also has the venerable "mountain snowflake" symbol. For those of us who need a great all-around tire and like an aggressive look, the Duratrac looks like a winner! Sorry for the brief hijack...
