    Tire/wheel size question -

Here you go sir: Plus some yahoo started this thread which might be worth a read: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/split-rims-bias-ply-tires-tubes-and-tube-liners.607335/ I ride pretty skinny tires and I find the steering is better. Plus all the reasons mentioned in the links above.

Tips on getting spare tire and wheel on and off the roof

I'm talking about a single car accident swerving to not hit someone or something. Like a deer jumping out or pedestrian being an idiot. I know a guy that hit a person who jumped out of a car on the interstate. Pedestrians can be stoopid. It happens is all I'm saying...

Tips on getting spare tire and wheel on and off the roof

That's good to know. If you don't want it up there, then don't put it up there. I saw this jack-ass the other day on the 15 going probably about 90 in the fast lane. His lifted truck with tire on top just about flipped when he had to quickly change lanes.

    Treadwright size request 255 85 R16

Hello Everyone, Just in case people weren't aware, Treadwright has a size request link: Tire Size Request They do not currently have the casings for the 255 85 R16, but they told me on the phone today that this is where they gather their data on exploring new tire sizes. So, lets fill up the...

Tips on getting spare tire and wheel on and off the roof

90 lbs on the roof? Just because lots of people do it and it looks "cool" doesn't mean its a good idea. Think about all that weight up there in an invasive maneuver? Plus thats a lot of weight that needs some serious strapping down. Lay it down in the back would be my suggestion.

Xzl 8.25r16- ultimate tall and skinny

My coworker who is ex-military said that his experience is that these are loud as hell but would last a long time. Neither is surprising.

Xzl 8.25r16- ultimate tall and skinny

Does anyone have first hand experience with them? I'm looking for new meats shortly after I get the suspension lifted in a month or so.

Split rims, bias ply tires, tubes, and tube liners

Yes, the beadbuster isn't cheap but its cheaper than this: Product : Extreme Outback. And the beadbuster is much, much smaller so its easier to transport on the trail. I was also cautious about buying one but after the first time of breaking down a rusty split rim in about 5 minutes without...

Split rims, bias ply tires, tubes, and tube liners

I used to use the jack method to break down my splits. Too much work and a couple of times the back end would lift up before the bead broke. I didn't like the forces involved between the chance of the vehicle settle to one side and hitting me with the arm of the jack or the fact that the stress...

    Hello from England......tyre question....

For those of us running the split rims in the US, very few modern equivalent sized tires exist for what you currently have. In jolly olde England you have more options. I'd suggest a 7.50R16 sized tire. Many more options are available to you there than compared to here in the States. This size...

Split rims, bias ply tires, tubes, and tube liners

I forgot to take a picture during the install, but the flaps work well. I did have to drill the hole for the valve stem to change it from side-oriented to center-oriented, but thats no biggie.

30.6 inch tires too wimpy looking?

I think more important than the look of the vehicle or even the "drivability" is the question of safety in snow, right? Getting some studs in whatever tire you get will move you more in the direction of safety. If I were you, I wouldn't change the size of the tires in a snow tire mostly...

Split rims, bias ply tires, tubes, and tube liners

Tube flaps can be bought through Pep Boys. The manufacturer is Carlisle Tire. In the 16" size, the part number is 17016. I've ordered a couple and will post pics when I get them.

Split rims, bias ply tires, tubes, and tube liners

Just got done dealing with the above blow out. The HiRun Brand 7.00/7.50 R15/16 tube I bought from an online seller will not work on Mr. T's splits. when inflated the inner diameter of the tube is about 14.5 inches which is too tight to get the tube flap to lay down smooth. I even tried...

Split rims, bias ply tires, tubes, and tube liners

And when they puncture, do they really puncture. Highway speeds on the CA-91E plus large wood bolt=ripped tube and shredded tire.

Split rims, bias ply tires, tubes, and tube liners

I am wondering what valve cores people use. I'm tired of messing around with the cheap Slime brand ones. The Slime ones really don't let you use the ARB ez-deflator because you can't be guaranteed to be able to screw the cores back into the tube after deflation. Any suggestions? I'm looking...

Split rims, bias ply tires, tubes, and tube liners

I fixed the flat and the Bead Buster worked great on Toyota split ring rims. Took about 5 minutes and at least three of those were operator error. Way easy!

Split rims, bias ply tires, tubes, and tube liners

I know that Tyrepliers are really good but I ordered a different product to break the bead. BeadBuster XB-451 Its smaller and more portable than the Tyrepliers. It should fit easily in my recovery bag. Its made in 'Merica. I've got a flat that I need to fix this weekend and will post up a...
