I have towed a 4000 pound boat with no trouble at all, other than getting 10 mpg.
The suspension is pretty much the same as a 4Runner, but the GX is insulated better so I would say it is quieter. The KDSS swayers allow the GX to handle a bit flatter than a 4Runner.
Lexus changed parking sensors several times on the 460, as a result aftermarket bumpers are hit or miss on sensor fitment. I had sensor fitment issues with both my Victory front Strike and my Coastal rear bumper. In the end I just said screw it since I have the parking sensors turned off anyway...
Yeah higher elevations are a concern that time of year. Heck, last year I did some of the Wyoming BDR in early July and had to skip the Wind River range and the upper part of the Snowy Mountains range.
Yep, "warped" rotors is a myth. But semantics aside, it is worth trying the previously mentioned re-bedding technique. This is a quote from Motor Trend: "Now that you understand what’s going on, here’s what you can do to help combat it. If caught early, you can often eliminate the shudder by...
I just towed a 4000 lb boat from Michigan to Minnesota. It towed really easy I thought, even spent a fair amount of time in 6th gear, and went 70 the whole way. Got around 10 mpg though  Of course with my current setup I wouldn't get much more than 16 mpg without the trailer anyway...
Many radios will turn off automatically after a period of time. My ham radios do this, and it is an adjustable setting. My Yeasu was set at 2 hours from the factory. Might be worth checking the Midland for that feature, would allow you to wire it to the battery and use it without activating the...
I have 35s and 4.88s and I am about 10% overgeared, which is fine with all the extra weight of tires and armor etc. But for 33s I would think 4.56 would be better, and it wouldn't be under geared even with 35s.
Heck yeah it's common in New England. I once bought an Isuzu Trooper from Massachusetts. The rear frame crossmember was barely there, most of it had evaporated due to rust. I hated wrenching on that truck, any bolt was at risk of snapping off if you tried to remove it.
Your GX has a little...
The other day, I merged onto a freeway behind a Tesla. I was wondering why he was signaling right while merging left. I pulled into the left lane and passed him, and noticed that the left mirror and front turn signals were flashing (as they should be), while the right rear signal was flashing. Doh.
I didn't really try streaming or even using the bluetooth until I got the Beat-Sonic wireless CarPlay system because it didn't work very well. Before that I would just play music from flash drives and such (still do sometimes).
The infotainment system was antiquated in 2010 and it took them...
