Kept them in the stock location. Not sure when she’ll be ready to run, but spring is the goal. We were talking about going to Texas in late March for Round up, but spring break is the week after for the kids so that’s thrown a few of us off.
I sure have my doubts about the drive line, but the way I normally do is to run what I ha e until it breaks then upgrade. Although I did just put stock shafts back in after this....to be fair I had broken a birf a little earlier that day so was asking a lot of the rear axle before the pop
Well, yes, I got the rear springs hung where I want them. I also started work on the front end and got the tires on the wheels. I test fit everything and will tack the spring rests on the axles once I get the diffs pointing where I want them. Here is how she rests....
I ended up using my OME...
agree it’s not great, but with 1/4” plate I’m probably not gonna get much better penetration out of a 140 welder no mater what I do. Good thing is most of what I’m welding to is not that thick. The frame on the 60 is less than 3/16”
Still have the 4 speed. And I figure this will precipitate some more driveline upgrades, but the wallet will appreciate it if I used the current set up for awhile until I can’t stand it any longer.
Yeah man, have not made a plan on the shocks yet. Waiting until the end. Will be fun to fit those tires and may loose some sheet metal before it’s all over. Probably won’t be done by New Years but would like to finish before March. Some of us may go do Round Up in Texas.
will be interesting to...
Also, just to see how I was doing with the welding I did some cutting and etching to see what kind penetration I was getting in 1/4” steel with my 140 Hobart.
In this image it is a single pass on the left and multipass on the right. The left looks pretty good and should stick. Multipass is...
Didn’t realize that last pic was before I repositioned the rear spring hangers. In that pic the 60 is under its own weight. it that position the shackle angle was too steep so I moved the hangers forward a bit. Will have to take a picture with them in the right spot.
