    FJ62 Buying Advice

Is that saying that I'm getting a deal for a 60k less mileage built 62 series with very little rust?? in my backyard? I mean I'm totally on board with everything that has been done but I'm just wondering if finding a good, somewhat rust free cruiser and lightly modifying it would be the best...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

Anyone who is still listening... I have thought about this a lot and I think I may have to pay more for my 62 than I did for my 100 series to get a non-rust bucket and something that I can reliably take care of and give to my kiddos at some point in life. This ad popped up and I know the owner...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

The rear frame Uchannel was starting to rot way worse than the side rails but it wasn't through in any place. I didn't take a picture of it though... darnit! It seemed like the restoration of all of that rust would only uncover more and more that was buried inside the panels and I don't know...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

That’s what I said to him when I offered 1500$. We’ll see if anyone bites in the next few weeks otherwise, I think I would be interested if I had a bit of flex to be able to get some work done at a paint/body shop to fix some of the rust.

    FJ62 Buying Advice

The search continues. Started ran and drove extremely well. Brakes were a bit squishy. It’s rustyyyyy though. Frame wasn’t perforated but the entire body needed work. It was everywhere. Both front axle ends were blown it looked like as well. Grease 1” thick all over the inside of the wheels. The...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

When I look at other pictures and diagrams of the body and frame around the front fenders, it’s just a big bowl that undoubtedly holds water, dirt, mudd:) etc. has anyone found a long term fix for that area? Or just try to keep it clean??

    FJ62 Buying Advice

I’m surprised he said it starts runs and drives great. They must have kept it in use somewhat. Is there anything you guys can think of that while it starts/drives that I could hear or feel that would be indicators of issues??

    FJ62 Buying Advice

Yep! I read through the what do I do now thread and lots of good stuff in there! Super helpful. The FAQ is going to be an awesome Resource for the rebuild. I’m going to test drive tomorrow and the tips that have been thrown out here are very appreciated!! It seems like these should all be in a...

does the front fender look like a candidate for the whole quarter being replaced and full paint Or bondo/patch and paint of just that panel? The paint on the body looks pretty good actually. Also wondering about the procedure for reviving a cruiser that has sat for a while. If it starts runs and...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

Wow so many awesome thoughts here about how to evaluate on site. Thank you all!!! I freaggin love mud!! i pushed the test drive till Monday when I can see it in daylight and have a bit more idea what I’m looking at. The owner bought the vehicle new in 89 and his son drove it for a while but is...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

I was thinking the same thing. I believe the owner is an older gentleman who used the car as a field truck (rural MN) and I bet it didn't get abused but is just old and likely had some dirt and leaves and junk stuck up in the nooks and crannys. I'm guessing I'll see similar things with the rear...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

I think I can drive it home for $3k. They were asking 8K originally... I'll post the frame, underside, and engine bay photos a bit later today as I haven't seen it in person yet. If there are particular areas that would help to be able to make some judgement from online, let me know happy to...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

I'm going to take a look at the 62 with 133k miles today (mask on). It has the original paint, some front fender rust (behind wheels see photo, basically a hole the size of a baseball behind the wheel :( and surely some more underneath. I think I've gotten the seller down to ~$3k to take it...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

So I think I may have worked the 62 with factory paint and 118K down to around 3-4k... Front fender rust and i'm sure more undercarriage but I can weld and would love a project for the next year... 4 x 4 suv - general for sale - by owner

    FJ62 Buying Advice

Man I love this forum. Such good advice and experience to reference... Thanks! I think there may be some red flags with the bedliner and the rust on both of these. Yet, your post gives me some hope that with a bit of TLC and some welding, the thing could be a really fun rig. Theres also another...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

"The frame rails on my 1985 Land Cruiser are amazingly rust free as is the rest of the vehicle... Two areas are just starting, passenger rockers and tailgate bottom, but then all Land Cruisers have rusted tail gate bottoms barr none. I have to be honest though, if you're looking for a "like...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

Kinda what I was thinking after he said the words "bondo", "wire brush", and "rotted rear cross member". I don't want to chase something around forever. It makes the 60 all that much more appealing. I wonder how much it would cost to get that thing baselined, painted or linex'd and on some nice...

    FJ62 Buying Advice

Kind of what I was thinking... I had a rusty 4runner that I absolutely loved but i spent so much time/money chasing rust on that thing that I'm not sure that it's worth my headspace or the money to deal with it again on an even older vehicle. Maybe I just need to wait it out?

    FJ62 Buying Advice

Let's revive this old thread... similar situation here. Have a 100 series that I'm loving but always have been enamored with the look/feel of a 60 but much more the 62 3FE fuel injected engine. One came up on CL yesterday that is super cheap, has some rust issues and general old age in MN...

    FJ62 DIY Cargo Box

I started to plan the new cargo box for the 100 series and have been perusing this thread for a hile now. Really ingenious stuff and i took some of the ideas for this new build. I also thought that I'd share a little view of the sketchup model I created. PM me if you want the base file to build...
