Anybody put a late model Tundra 5.7 in a 60/62 yet? My 62 only has 120K on it so I have no plans for a swap anytime soon. No smoke or oil consumption. As Benjaman points out, the 3FE does what is it designed to do. Go slow and steady forever.
Would be interesting to have the 400hp/400 tq in...
When I bought my 88 FJ62 three years ago, it had a good amount of crud on the engine and drive train. I started by using some diesel based engine cleaner after scaping off the heavy stuff, then used simple green mixed at 50/50 to take off the residue of the engine cleaner.
The distributor...
My 89 came equipped with a class III receiver. I looked all over for the same thing for my 88, but is either discontinued or was just a factory thing.
I bought one off the classified section in this forum for 100.00. Had to drill some holes in the fram and remove the rear tow hook, but is...
My OEM headlights are throwing yellow light. They are original to the vehicle (1988) and I am wondering if replacement with updated halogens will resolve. Checked the voltage at the battery while running and was getting 13.8 volts. At the headlights I am losing about a volt (12.7).
Is this...
Used the Toyota factory gasket, and a tube of their gasket goo to put in the corners.
Had to use a file and round the corners just a tad on the cork gasket, but very pleased with the results.
No leaks a year later
I also have a sneaking suspicion it is tied to the exhaust, as it does not seem to come from the rocker area, and really quiets after 10-15 minutes of running
I have what sounds like lifter noise until the engine completely warms up (10 minutes or more) then pretty much goes away. I have run the valves and had to snug a feew up and thought that would quiet it down a bit. Zero change in the level of ticking. Cruiser Dan said that it could possibly be...
Similar leak on my 62 (assuming the leak is from the car and not you !). Changed the pan gasket and stopped 99% of the leak. Was oozing at the back of the pan while sitting
Got the same problem with my 62. Certainly sounds like tappet noise but is definitely from the drivers side bottom, right where the small cat is. Ran the valves and found a couple that need tightening, but the tic tic tic is still there. Also thinking exhaust, as it quiets significantly after a...
My 62 does the same thing. Vibration with a rumble above 60 MPH. Put into neutral and noise went away. Spoke with Cdan about it and he said other then drive shaft, would have to be pinion bearing or (dread) output shaft bearing. Hope mine will be the same fix
Replaced mine shocks but got them from the marine supply place listed in the FAQ. Cost 43.00 including shipping. Used the original sockets. Took 10-15 minutes to install, including the removal of the sockets that came on the new shocks.
Took my pan off a week ago. Mallet proved to be worthless. Ended up putting the factory jack on the passenger side of the frame and a block of wood on the side of the pan (long enough to spread out the pressure) and turned the jack until it popped off. Some of the folks here even say to put a...
I too got tired of the drips left by my 62. Thought it could have been a rear main, but it seemed to leak more after it was sitting that when driven regularly. This lead me to believe it was leaking from the pan when it was full from not running. Pulled the pan (wow!, could not believe I had to...
