OEM TRE comes with free tie rod?

I just replaced the TREs on my 60. The drag link ends come with zerk fittings already installed. Tie rod ends have a small bolt in them that I took out and replaced with he zerk fittings from the old drag link ends..

Tools of the day: Had to beat the dizzy out of the block from below. A piece of 1x2 and the center mallet got it unstuck without damage. Galvanic corrosion had welded the aluminum shaft of the distributor to the block. I cleaned everything up, lightly sanded upper part of dizzy shaft, and...

Got a few more things done over last few days: rebuilt/resealed power steering pump (damn there are a lot of springs in there), replaced taillight gaskets with reproductions from City Racer, replaced smog pump with TLC idler arm, and adjusted clutch. Rejetted Weber 38 for altitude- probably...

The Tension Kit #2 works really well. I especially like that it has the outside nut to secure the adjuster block to the lock bolt. No losing the damn block! Super pleased with everything else; great to have reliable charging and a clean windshield. :) Have a water pump and LED lights...

Oh yeah. Goodness from @ToyotaMatt arrived today. NOS Denso 55 amp alternator, alternator tension hardware, and NOS OEM washer pump. Out with non-standard, flaky alternator. In with newness. I'll tackle washer pump, rebuild of clutch actuation system, and a couple body items this...

It feels super 80s for sure. Not over the top, just kinda awesome.

Pictures of the interior- not stock, but I like the way it looks. Replacing 10" subwoofer box in cargo area (and amp under back seat) with a small, powered sub under driver's seat.

I’ve owned a LOT of cars and trucks over the years (somewhere around 40), starting with a Triumph Spitfire in college, and then through a series of trucks, SUVs, and European sports cars and wagons. Been a while since I have owned a vintage machine- buddy of mine got a built up 80, which...

    Distributor stuck

So if I can get a new ROW OEM, would you see that as an option? Given desmog, it should work well.

    Distributor stuck

Pros and cons? Hav e seen a few "don't do this" threads around DUI Distributors, but have not seen any solid reasons. Seems like a good design, wonder why there are some against them.

    Distributor stuck

Just to confirm- using a piece of wood (or 1/2 extension) to beat on body of dizzy itself from under wagon? Any feedback on what a good spare wold be? Wagon came to me desmoged and with a Weber 38, and I live at altitude (5,500 ft). I have a high altitude re-jet kit OTW, and wanted to just...

    Distributor stuck

Any pointers on unsticking distributor? Not trying to remove it, just want to adjust timing, but can't get it to rotate. I have loosened the bolt, and applied penetrating oil to no avail. Any ideas on how to (safely for the dizzy) get it loose?

Dropping gas tank. Just a bit.

Operation fish a wire successful- I pulled the cross member below fuel tank (and removed tire carrier mechanism) and supported the rear of the tank with a floor jack. Removed rear strap bolts, making sure to support straps with jack stands - they are what is holding up rear of tank at this...

Dropping gas tank. Just a bit.

I tried this- there is cross member about 6" from the access hatch that blocks access, unfortunately.

Dropping gas tank. Just a bit.

Working through a bunch of issues on my 1985 FJ60- just got the wagon about 2 weeks ago, and while the cosmetics are great, the mechanicals side needs a bit of work. New starter (reman OEM), alternator (NOS 55 amp), starter switch, valve cover gasket, new fluids all around, heavy duty battery...
