    3EFI ECU question...

I have a fj40 with the 2F block and a 3 EFI head. It has ran good for a few years. Recently some of the engine compartment wirring has failed due to age/brittleness. So, I started replacing wires. Came to a point of wires to the ECU, which needed removal/replacement. Thus the following...

New FPR Installed and truck runs terrible..

Did you check the fuel pressure after the new regulator and fuel pump? If not, is the fuel return line plugged, or kinked somewhere? Jerry D.

    Another possible temp gauge issue...

Which temp sensor did you replace??? Jerry D.

    Throttle up, fuel pressure down...

Pic's below. Sensor is at the very end of rail, a bit downstream of the pressure regulator. Engine seems to run well with the 28 PSI, but sort of think there should be 41 PSI all the time. If I hadn't put on the gauge, I wouldn't worry about it. But now I have to find out... Not sure...

    Throttle up, fuel pressure down...

Background: 2FE, new fuel filter, new fuel pump (actually second new pump), new pressure regulator, new pulsation damper and new fuel hose. I also installed a pressure transducer on the end of the fuel rail, and it runs to a LED pressure gauge. Engine starts fine, idles fine, and idles with...

    Galley Plug 5/16-24 tap?

Make sure you are using a 'starting' tap to begin with, if you are using a 'bottoming' tap to start, it may not get the bite you need. Jerry D.

    FJ62 Help Needed

Fuel Pumps will fail when ever they want to. A low voltage going there, or their brushes bad, could give you the problem. Jerry D.

    FJ62 Help Needed

Why not take this can of worms and go fishing, would be more relaxing. After the start, your system gets its voltage via the IGN circuit. From the battery, though the Fusible Link then the IGN switch. From there you go through your six Fuel Injectors and to the ECU. Also from the IGN switch...

    FJ62 Help Needed

The Fusible Link has to be good or the fuel pump will not run by jumping the +B and FP in the check connector, nor will the fuel pump run in the start mode. The only common items that will allow the fuel pump to run in start and not in the run position is the Circuit Opening Relay or the switch...

    FJ62 Help Needed

Look at the pictures in the last post in this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fj62-intermittent-starting-issue.836292/ If the fuel pump runs during cranking to start the engine, then the Circuit Opening Relay should be OK. It may be possible that one of the coils is burnt out. You...

    FJ62 Help Needed

Look at your Air Flow Meter plug/wiring. It will shut off the fuel pump after crank/start if not connected right. Jerry D.

    Fj62 intermittent starting issue!!!!!

Return flow/pressure indicates the pump is running and the relay is working. My understanding of the Fuel System circuit: When you go to START, you put voltage through the Neutral Start Switch (which also puts power to the starter) to a coil in the Circuit Opening Relay to ground which closes...

    Fj62 intermittent starting issue!!!!!

Neutral safety switch is OK if starter runs. The EFI Main Relay: with ohmmeter, check continuity between RED wire and BROWN wire, should be some continuity. With ohmmeter check continuity between RED/YELLOW wire and YELLOW/RED wire, should be no continuity. Then apply battery voltage to RED...

    3FE wire harness crimp connectors...

Update on these connectors, they are indeed made by TE Connectivity (tnx Frank) and sold by Mouser Electronics. Mouser's part # is 571-170353-1 for those interested. Jerry D.

    3FE wire harness crimp connectors...

I’m in the process of cleaning up wiring on a 2FE conversion in my FJ40. To do what I want, I need to shorten a bunch of wires going to the ECM. I’m looking for the crimp type female wire connectors that go into the plug bodies. I’ve tried search, google, and a number of electronic suppliers...

    tps adjustment

My 2FE idle problem was solely throttle cable adjustment. I disconnected the cable and started the engine, it idled fine. Re-installed the cable and left enough slack in it so the throttle could close as needed. The varying idle was caused by the friction of the cable in the tube. Jerry D.

    3FE hoses...

Thanks, I will do away with them for now. But it does get into the 20's here in the winter. Maybe I'll connect them downstream of the heater valve. Jerry D.
