Most recently, I did a quick swap of my rusting battery tray with a stainless tray from stainlesstrays.com
This was a really easy job and a good upgrade from my stock tray. Well fitting and complete kit.
Long time, no update. My brother, @Hokie LX, has inspired me with his build thread so I figured I’d get back in here.
I passed the 80 series along to its new owner so this is the only truck in the stable again. The FJ62 has been on daily duty for the last few years with some basic maintenance...
I run a front runner rack on my ‘88 with quick release tent mounts and a roof top tent. I really dig the front runner rack because it’s so modular and they make a bunch of slick accessories to build the rack out how you’d like.
The quick release tent mounts allow me to take the tent off with a...
Just made it through most of your thread back to front and wow this truck has been a labor of love. I just had my second wheel cylinder blow in the rear of my 62 so I’m gonna treat myself to OEM lines at the top of this page and wheel cylinders. Color me inspired.
Excited to check the truck out...
Also - if anyone has a recommendation about securing the rear quarter land cruiser badges, I'm all ears. I've got two extra sets, but the right one keeps falling out as you can see in the photos above.
The next update after being out in CA for a bit was to source a roof rack to support my new Roof Top Tent. My wife surprised me with a RTT for our anniversary and I was able to find a front runner rack with the quick release mounts. I like the front runner system quite a bit. The modularity...
Again, it’s been a long while since an update. I’ve signed up for SAS #5, a trip I’ve wanted to do for years, and it’s great inspiration to keep documenting the truck ownership.
The truck sat in storage for a year and a half between 2017-2019 while I lived in DC. I didn’t need it and I wanted...
Took the truck on a 700 mile round trip up to Big Sur to try out the new roof top tent setup. Worked like a charm and I’m really digging this front runner rack and quick release mounts.
Just completed a cross country journey from Wilmington, NC to Manhattan Beach, CA. Stopped over in Oklahoma for a few days before continuing west. We managed to hit the hurricane in Tennessee a few weeks ago and the heat wave in Las Vegas the following week. Temps up to 116 in the Mojave. I was...
Prepped the truck for a cross country trip - VA to CA. All fluids, new KO2s, and stock wheels back on. I prefer the look, but they’re about 10lbs a wheel heavier. I also swapped out my ripped driver seat for a better looking set I picked up a few years back. Happy to get this back on the road...
The cruiser got all kinds of love this weekend. A front brake refresh turned into a full detail for the ole girl. I spent about 15 hours doing a full paint correction (wash, clay, buff, and seal). She's looking great and protected for the winter.

It's been a while since an update so here goes. I've recently been living in DC and the truck doesn't see any miles during the week. I've spent a fair amount of time with dad (and his garage + tools) in North Carolina going through the truck to replace parts as necessary. This past weekend we...
