    Disconnected pipe/hose

Yeah, I can connect the two with some force but the hose needs replacing if it really does anything. It’s definitely not liquid or air tight. Wondering what it is or was for.

    Disconnected pipe/hose

I was trouble shooting the carb fan on my ‘85 FJ60 and noticed that there is a pipe disconnected from a hose. The attached pictures aren’t great. I’ll get under the truck and get some better pictures tomorrow. Other than the carb fan not kicking on at shutdown, the truck is running great...

10 🍌 question: side view mirror

Awesome! I’m going to get a pair. $pendy but seems worth it given that the stock mirrors are almost a safety hazard.

    Fj60 shudders when turned off

It turns out that the choke was stuck wide open. Also adjusted the rpms at idle, which were running high. Seems to be running great.

Yes. About a 3 second last gasp.

    Fj60 shudders when turned off

I’ll check tomorrow. Would that be causing the engine to shudder after the ignition is shut off?

    Fj60 shudders when turned off

I have an ‘85 FJ60 that I just got back from the mechanic. Now, the engine runs for a second and then shudders pretty violently when I turn off the ignition. The PO had installed an electric fuel pump and my mechanic reconnected a mechanical fuel pump and replaced the fuel lines. He also...

    Leaking fluid from brake pedal

Thank you all for the help. This is excellent information. Yes, my mechanic pulled that hose because it seemed to be the source of the leak. We plan to bypass the rear heater and I will take the advice to flush the whole system and replace the water pump, etc. The PO definitely didn’t take care...

    Leaking fluid from brake pedal

I probably should have mentioned that I had a bad first experience with a smoking engine Engine overheated and went up in smoke - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/engine-overheated-and-went-up-in-smoke.1044064/ and also that I don’t currently have a functioning temp gauge. I’m super paranoid.

    Leaking fluid from brake pedal

I am hoping that is the issue. There was definitely a distinct smell from the smoke, which I am now assuming was burning coolant.

    Leaking fluid from brake pedal

I haven't been able to get over to the mechanic to look myself. I will go over tomorrow and take a look.

    Leaking fluid from brake pedal

@2mbb a coolant leak was definitely part of the problem. Here is what the mechanic found so far. Does this go to the rear heater?
