is there a thing over there that might be shorting?

And after typing that up there ^^^ No more buzzing zzzzt sound when i shift to reverse. INSTEAD the Wiper 20amp fuse pops when i shift into reverse. I disconnected the wiper motor plug and still happens. Starting to pull the heater box to get a better view of the wires over there in the...

is there a thing over there that might be shorting?

Latest development. I disconnected the negative ground to the battery. Multimeter test for capacitance between battery positive and body. I get a clear tone meaning I have a short somewhere in there. hopefully this is centralized under the dash where is hear the zzzzt sound. still searching

is there a thing over there that might be shorting?

I've heard relay buzz plenty. This sounds like a wire shorting. Plus it's not coming from the relay area where all the other lighting relays are. It's more behind or above the heater box above the passenger knees. That's why I wonder if there's anything other than wires up there that might...

is there a thing over there that might be shorting?

Working on a new problem today, 1984 FJ60 4spd Reverse lights suddenly quit working. Frustrating trying to find the reverse light circuit on diagrams. Or even which fuse, if any, powers the back up lights. SO, when I turn key to on and shift into reverse I can hear ZZZZZZT coming from under...

    60 Series RePower

I bought my truck already swapped to a Ford 302/5.0 1991 Mustang engine. Drives great but i don’t see a lot of swap parts for this in the age of the LS. I would be looking at the GM LL8/4200 straight 6 (2006-2009 versions) if i was prepping for a swap today.

    Tailgate storage fab

UPDATE - received my SendCutSend parts today. They are a good fit. I made them smaller than most of the offerings from real maker/builders. I wanted the edges to sit just inside the inner ridge of the gate surround. I think I'll take a cue from @trailtailor and opt out of the door stop...

INTERIOR SWAP making the gray go away

Quick update - Interior has been "Nearly done" for a few weeks. I keep a list in my phone's notes app. It grows more than it shrinks as I add details I want to tweak. Need to figure out why interior dome light isn't working run wiring for central locking kit align new front window regulators...

    Tailgate storage fab

Are they available for sale though? I don't find them on your website. ALSO, will you be restocking anodized rear fj60 exterior vents? I'm getting close to painting this truck and would like to have your vents front and rear as well as your apron seals.

    Tailgate storage fab

I've seen this before but couldn't locate it last night in my frenzy of drawing and ordering too heavy steel bits. I don't have TIG or a spool gun so I have to default to steel for my personal fab use. Also mine are smaller. I have the outside edge sitting inside the raised portion, just...

    Tailgate storage fab

    I get different steel numbers from Sheet Metal Gauge Size Chart - http://www.custompartnet.com/sheet-metal-gauge 10 5/8" x 50" = 3.69sq/ft x 5.487lb per sq/ft = 20.25lbs ?

    Tailgate storage fab

LOL this is why it's an experiment on my end. I've always had to learn the hard way. I'm certainly not an engineer and I'm erring on the side of too strong. I'll have to re-cut in thinner material if it's really stupid... ALSO! I should have said that I'm mainly doing this because a former...

    Tailgate storage fab

Well I got a wild hair last night... I thought I found the perfect off the (Marine/boat supply) shelf item for tailgate storage - That's a BOMAR cast aluminum storage hatch in approx the right size. BUT it's $700+ for 1 ouch Their plastic options are interesting but sit kinda high and still...

    (Another) FJ60 Wiper Assembly Problem/Question

I saw this but the description is lacking info about the rebuild process. Do they do anything for the pivot bearing/bushings? And the pictures are of (I hope) a non rebuilt unit. I'm going to take a swing at making something that won't rely on plastic bushings before I go that route.

    (Another) FJ60 Wiper Assembly Problem/Question

Well if anyone else runs into this here is what i did - I filed the dome portion of the new style bushing cap until it was open just slightly larger than the flat top of my motor arm pivot ball. I also put a chamfer on the top part of the hole to let the arm tilt freely in case of deflections...

    (Another) FJ60 Wiper Assembly Problem/Question

does anyone have any experience with this issue? I think I'm going to cut the dome off the new part today. that should let it snap on at least. if i don't cut too much it should stay on

FJ62 3F to Ford “Barra” Swap

Nothing specific against the LS. I've gone down that thought process as well. I've always enjoyed a straight 6 when I owned one though. Typically smooth and torquey AND a straight 6 is what came in there! OH aaaaaand isn't the 1,2,3f etc toyota family basically a 40s or 50s GM engine? plus...

    (Another) FJ60 Wiper Assembly Problem/Question

Well, I've been happily working on my interior gray to brown swap and general quality of life upgrade on our '84 60. The wipers have been terrible since we got the truck and I decided to have a look. The motor is good, the plastic bushings are ok the bearings in the cowl mounted pivots are bad...

FJ62 3F to Ford “Barra” Swap

Love this! The Barra is already legendary in the US. It MUST be a good motor to make it through the LS curtain. I’ve been contemplating the “Ameri-barra” GM LL8 as a swap for our fj60. All the FB and forum groups deal with Turbos and AT setups though. Not much info for NA manual swaps yet...
