    Builds Cruisermatt's FJ62 Build-up

I know you like what you like, but we’ve been getting some great feedback on the baja boss m/ts. Maybe a consideration.

    Builds Gen IV LS/NV4500 Swap

Why can’t you just pull the teardrop with the race car? 😁

New Splitcase adapter kit option from Axis Industries

Cool info. Axis probably has the ability to make this work on quite a few more transmissions. Another option for sm465s or any of the gm auto transmissions would be great.

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Used some left over parts from an air locker install to make a vent. I don’t see a vent on on the transmission? Should I add one?

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Here’s some pictures of a 38mm case that Valley hybrids did. Much nicer than my case, but I don’t have access to a mill. I used a combination of a flap disc on an angle grinder and a 36grit Roloc disc on a 90* die grinder

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

There is also a rib that protrudes right here. I had found some pictures of a 38mm case that Georg machined and used that as a guide.

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Bhsdriller highlighted them all. The two on the left are for the Idler gear, which I haven’t seen anyone talking about. I didn’t do as nearly a nice job on those as I did for low range gear.

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

I had talked with Georg on the phone and he said I probably wouldn’t wear through as the later 34mm cases tended to be thicker than the earlier ones.

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Finished up work early and spent another hour on the case half. I am done with clearencing and did not break through the case! Waiting on my idler bearings spacer. And I’ll be ready for final assembly! going to see what I can digup to try and measure the rear case half where I clearanced it...

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Made some decent progress on my lunch break today. Cluster gear is all together with new bearings. All that’s left is Finishing the case. I am VERY close to being done with the case and I haven’t broke through...yet. There’s still time. Once I think I’m done, I do a full assembly with the...

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Idler gear requires some clearance modifications as well. Haven’t seen anyone talking about that.

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Just got confirmation from AA that 34mm thrust washer is correct 👍🏻 going to start continue assembly

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Also, called my local toyota dealer, ordered a new spacer for the idler bearings. The kit from AA includes bearings but no spacer. PN 90560-38003. Should have it early next week.

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Blasted off an email to my shops rep at AA this morning. We’ll see what he says.

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Negative. Gears came from advance adapters and rebuild kit came from Georg. I’ve been hesitant to call for that reason.

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Well, I reached out to Sumo Gear this morning and this was their response. So we’ll see. Maybe Kurt or Georg will chime in. Otherwise I’ll give one of them a call tomorrow. “Thank you for the answers and picture. After reviewing the photo your concerns are completely correct - the washer that...

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Well, it all fits 🤷‍♂️ Washers aren’t too tight or too loose. Guess I’ll roll with it.

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

I’m pretty confident that I will need 38mm thrust washers. In your thread 34mm vs 38mm Kurt talks about their Japanese stepped idler shaft and specifically states it uses 38mm thrust washers

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

Was planning to give this a try on my lunch break today. I’ll see what I come up with.

    4:1 gears in a 34mm split case

With a stepped pin the clearances will a fixed measurement, but with a regular style, they will be variable. You don’t think it may add too much clearance and not allow the case halves to fully bolt together? Also causing excessive play in the idler gears?
