From Hundy to 2024 LC 250?

Not to mention, Toyota's rocky start when they intro'd the 1VD-FTV. Toyota certainly isn't immune to first gen mistakes. I can name more than a couple on my '99 UZJ100. And they've only gotten more electro-mechanically complex.

    My immobilizer fix

@LWA55DAL sorry if you posted this previously: What is the part # for the fuse box for '98-'02 UZJ100s?

    My immobilizer fix

FWIW, Joey aka @NLXTACY recently swapped in a new fuse box recently too on his 100. @LWA55DAL any idea what causes the short that initiates the waterfall of problems with the EFI fuse/relay? Thankfully the fuse receptacle on my '99 only slightly burned/melted and didn't end up in a bonfire...

    fix for immobilizer issue?

Move to a newer UZJ100? I think they separated the EFI slot into 2 fuse slots in '03? Not sure on the MY for that... IMO, a new fuse box just delays the inevitable problem. @medtro workaround completely addresses Toyota's design flaw.

    fix for immobilizer issue?

^ same problem I experienced: It toasted the fuse holder in the fuse box. By the look of mine I was lucky it didn't start a fire.

    My immobilizer fix

IMHO, it doesn't matter what it costs...as you're ****ed when your UZJ100 won't start and you're out in the middle of BFE or BFN (BumFukNevada) when it decides to rear its ugly head leaving you stranded and wishing you either had this kit in your on-board parts/tool kit or had installed the mod...

    Oil leak found

When you're doing the rear main seal, be sure to inspect the flex plate for hairline, or larger, cracks.

    Recommended aftermarket front axles

Related: Pay attention to your front suspension height. UZJ100 CV axles are very sensitive, leaking/durability/lifespan related, to too much suspension height resulting in unfriendly CV angles. This is the #1 cause of CV/CV boot failure on this platform.

    Rats chewed through unknown wires

I had a family of Packrats set up a nasty nest in the V of my 2UZ-FE; 5-years ago. And, of course, they dined on the wiring harness apart of the knock sensor. After I got all that remedied and apart of a test drive, upon turning on the HVAC fan and getting zero air throughput...I had that...

Does More Caster Actually Equal More Pinch Weld Clearance?

Ditto @hoser: The optimum combo when running 35's would be for matched upper and lower control arms to allow up to 4-5º of caster and decent clearance at the rear of tire-to-lower fender clearance/better centering of the wheel/tire as well as pushing the wheel center forward. Factory...

    Master Cylinder Rebuild - DIY

...or you just want to live to see another day. Even if larger rotors/BBK isn't in the cards, for whatever reason, and you have experienced similar brake system failure as I described, I think swapping to Stoptech calipers (and cryo'd rotors) is a good and wise expenditure/investment.

    Master Cylinder Rebuild - DIY

I fought pathetic front brake performance...sometimes on steep terrain with the nose pointed uphill, the pedal would go to the floor. A couple effing scary situations ensued and damn lucky it didn't end in disaster! Yes, the brake fluid was at proper level, refreshed, bled properly, etc...

    Master Cylinder Rebuild - DIY

How Toyota skirted around an official recall and/or being sued to the hilt regarding a couple glaring issues on the UZJ100 platform...is beyond me. Notably the brake system issues apart of this thread, front brake calipers & the Evap canister venting/not venting issues...

100 series no start no crank

Immobilizer/EFI issue, at least from my direct experience, motor will crank but acts like its...well not getting spark (or fuel). My money is on the starter. Poor install job or just a bad reman starter.

100 Series Attic Shelf Bracket Availability

^ Back in 'my day'...in junior high & high school, we had the option of full on metal shop including all things welding (OA, MIG, stick), all things lathes & milling machines, foundry, shaping, sheet metal and on and on. Ditto for Wood Shop. Ditto for Auto Shop. Even could have built a...

    rear main seal?

If you proceed with seal swap be sure to check the pressure plate...mine was cracked significantly (known issue)...and plan parts buy accordingly. You might see a reduction in the leak volume by switching to conventional or as I did: 5-50w Amsoil (yes, I'm an Amsoil fan...been using it for...
