System schematics
Wow! What a pile of BS. Electronic remote/transponder/duhicky thimabobs. A buddy of mine lost his 2003 LC keys and we are now going thru this crap; secruity my ass. Altho the thread is super important; has anyone considered looking into a go-around fix. Maybe a wiring mod that...
No pwr issue...
Chances are u have a bad battery &/or corroded terminals. If the battery has been in there for 3 years or more, it may be on the way out. Stock Toyota terminals are real great, especially where u live..
On the 80 series, the gauge fuse handles a lot of stuff, including the back up lites. If u have a short in one of the bulbs (rare) this will cause ur problem. Use an ohm meter to check each bulb.

Yes; almost all alternator/regulators in the US are designed for lead-acid (standard) batteries. As such, these charging systems fall a little short of the specs for the hi-tech Odyssey series.
For example, the Odyssey PC925's that I run in my 80 want to see full charge at 12.8 volts. 12.6...
Boston;
Don't think the out gassing is going to be a problem. Odyssey's can be sent by mail system.
U will need a proper charger for the Odyssey series and one is now available. The 80 series alternator does not have the correct charge algorithm - which means u will need to periodically...
Josh83;
Worst case here is the alternator diodes are blown &/or computer damage.
The MAIN fuse link could be blown, if the 100 series uses standard wire type fuse links. This link will handle about 100 amps and is the main charge/discharge lead.

Greg;
This doesn't apply directly to ur situation; but is an example of a dual odyssey [small batts] that fit in the stock batt location. I've run this as an experiment since 2001.

N M;
I'm using the " so called correct" charging algarithms for the Odes. series of Batteries. Quit frankly, one needs to do this because these batteries are not the standard lead-acid type. I keep a battery on charge at all times and switch them out about every 6 months. Acorrding to specs...
