Dumb question and maybe a moot point... Anyone have a preference on running the HVAC in the colder winter months in AUTO mode with the A/C "on"?
I know running it,
A). keeps things lubed in the system
B). dehumidifies to some extent with a car full of steamy people
C). burns more gas
Just...
I installed one of those years ago and absolutely love it !!! Ties in seamlessly with the factory system, steering wheel controls work as intended and BT quality is perfect for me. One of the best investments in my LC so far.
My '04 switch does NOT stay down for 2nd gear... I think because it's "temporary use" and will reset if truck is turned off and restarted.
Now the power ECT switch stays down always even when off and restarted.
Most of your FLAPS can do a quick check in the parking lot to determine if it's a battery issue or charging issue... mine was also whining so I knew it was going bad.
Mine had a similar behavior... seemed like under load the engine RPM was just a tad lower than idling in PARK and the volt gauge would drop. Mine ended up being a bad alternator. Keep and eye on yours or get it tested before it gets worse or leaves you stranded.
So I peeled back the wire tape / wrap and reconnected (spliced) the 5 wires and guess what????
I now have working tail lights and brake lights on the lower rear hatch... never knew this. I feel like an idiot. HAHA.
Think I might be an idiot and never noticed this before but here goes... see the pic, this wiring "loom" is completely broken at the lower rear hatch were it pivots when the door shuts. Now as far as I know from my 12yr ownership, there aren't any electrical items in the lower rear hatch, OR ARE...
Did you scan for actual codes or just looking for a CEL? Mine had very similar issues and would never turn on the CEL but would throw a transmission solenoid code.
Search my name / posts and you can read my story. I had pretty much the same experience you did.
I did... have probably a couple thousand miles on it now... did it work???
Can't say for sure. It seems to be a little better. Could just be all in my head and I may have adjusted how I drive since I can tell pretty much when it would do the harsh downshift.
It certainly didn't harm anything...
See pic below... how do I remove this plastic cover without breaking it any more?
I was washing it yesterday and grabbed on it and cracked a hole in the backside pretty bad. Would like to remove and try to glue it back together. FSM didn't really have any info in it. It's an '04 too, I think...
I'm almost positive the glass itself is only held on by 4 nuts. They are readily apparent when you pull off the black plastic trim pieces around the frame on the inside. (Look at the FSM page BO-74.)
Now if the tracks or something else is damaged, you may have to remove the trim and headliner.
Just checking and topping up. Overall it works great but a few years back got a little low and froze up on a trip so now I just check each spring and have noticed turning on the rear system causes the bubbles and pressures to vary a lot more.
My followup dumb question to your dumb question, haha.
Since only one compressor, isn't the high / low pressure ports in the engine the only ports to access? Does the rear system have separate ports? I see no mention of that in the FSM and don't see any when I looked under the vehicle to the...
Almost 100% sure it's just the valve cover gaskets. Mine does the same thing. I snugged them down ever so gently years ago and it helped for a little while. The torque ratings for the bolts is pretty low. They will feel loose but you certainly don't want to overtighten and snap off. Mine are...
For those with the factory rear A/C and everything still stock and working properly, quick pressure checking question...
I have the FSM and it says with the sight glass or the manifold gauges to have "fan speed at hi, AC ON, temp to full cool, doors open".
It makes no mention of the rear AC...
