I actually just had something similar happen to me as well. I bought my '99 LC in February from a local Toyota dealer, and before I purchased it they had replaced both front CV axles and boots. I drove it for a few weeks, when I noticed it was slinging grease on both sides and one of the diff...
Went camping last weekend and these were the only two pictures I took the whole time. This truck handled the pretty rough road to the property like a champ! Can't wait to throw more at it.
@krice118 I'd gladly let you try to install it on mine :D.And I've already got fender damage on the drivers side so doubtful it will line up right anyway.
Those are definitely on the way out, since they’re pretty chewed in a few spots already.
Thanks Scot, appreciate the perspective! Your rig looks great, what front bumper is that?
That would be awesome @krice118, you could count me in on a local meet!
Thanks Zrem, and that Arenado trade is...
If anyone's still following this, I did it. I pulled the trigger today on the '99 I first posted about. I got the call from the dealer yesterday that the CV's were done, and I could come by for a test drive. The second I got the truck off the lot I knew I had to have it. The ride with the lift...
Thanks krice, appreciate the second on MT Schiele. I called over there the other day to ask about the PPI and they were very helpful.
Thanks for the input on the rear locker, it's one of the main reasons I'm having second thoughts about the one for sale at Wolfe. Not that I think I'd need it...
Thanks Runner, appreciate the offer! Central Iowa's not too terribly far, but my travel time is pretty limited by my work schedule. I'd love to see some pics though, sounds like a pretty good truck.
I showed this one to my wife (who's favorite color right now is any shade of teal), and her exact words were "ewww"
So you might get lucky with this one! I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya.
Thanks @Red Beard, I definitely appreciate the feedback. I wouldn't be so quick to jump into one if I hadn't already seen some decent ones in my market get snapped up faster than the dealer can post pics.
I'll try to get more pics of the undercarriage/suspension next time I go look at it...
Thanks Jack, always nice to meet someone else in the 'Lou! Hopefully I can talk them down to around 11k, or at least include some extra service in the deal at 13k. I've got a pretty good mechanic that's done good work on my Tundra, but I may give MT a shot since they're pretty close too. And as...
Oh I'm definitely keeping the Tundra, I'll never part with that. And it's definitely proved that it can keep up pretty well as long as it's got a decent set of tires and the owner doesn't try anything too stupid :D
Thanks @KliersLC , I'll shoot them a text. Even if it's a total rust bucket...
That's fantastic, I live a few minutes away from Crestwood! Thanks @Jack Lee! I thought they only did diff's, but good to know they do auto service at the crestwood store.
Do you still have the hundo in your profile pic? If so, how's it been holding up?
Good call, fuel prices will definitely effect the prices. I've been enjoying them while they last, but nothing good lasts forever.
Also good observation about the 100's "future classic" status. It will be a great truck, but it won't be as special as the 40/60/80 in later years. But that almost...
Thanks for the advice everyone!
Thanks for the toyota link @yngmrostrvile , I didn't realize they did service history by vin. Unfortunately no record of a timing belt being done there either. Right now it's 13k with just the axle work, I'm hoping I can get the timing belt service...
Hey everyone, been lurking on the forum for a long time now, and I'm finally in a position to pull the trigger on a new LC/LX so I made an account to seek some advice.
Brief intro before the meat of the question. I live in St. Louis, MO and I have an '01 Tundra that I 've owned since '03 that I...
